“Hesperia Tower Hotel”

We stayed at the above hotel in mid November 2011. My wife and myself had a really good stay. We did turn up on our 1st day very early and our room wasn't available. This wasn't a big deal as this gave us an excuse exploring Barcelona immediately! The hotel is located about 15- 20 mins West of Barcelona but is very local to the Airport. Again not an issue as we got to explore the city by using the Metro which is vey good once you know how to wok the ticket machines! The hotel room itself was immaculate and very comfortable. Evening meals were very good as well as the service. Breakfast was also very enjoyable as there was a wide selection to choose from. We didn't spend all our time at the hotel as we were busy exploring Barcelona. Overall though, we throughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and we have already decided we would like to stay there again.

“Excellent hotel and superb tower club”

Location isn't great (outside the city centre) but the proximity to the subway (200m) makes it al right.

“would like to return so my husband can experience”

Loved the Evo restaurant, Banquet restaurant needs to improve its service, front of house not friendly or helpful. The Tower Club experience was great!

“as long as you know what you're going to get, stay there!”

This is a 5 star hotel. The rooms are fantastic for the money and the views are brilliant. You get comfort, cleanliness, top class shower (!) and a great night's sleep. Plasma TV (BBC1 and BBC News only) and nice touches such as bathrobes, free safe, minibar. Crazy but good lifts - necessary when you're on floor 23. You don't get breakfast (but you can at €15 pre-booked or €24 on the day) but there is a perfectly good cafe round the corner where coffee and croissant costs €1.50. You are well outside the city centre but the hotel shuttle takes you there free (as it does to the airport both ways) or get the metro 10 journey ticket which works out at €0.825 per journey (can also be used on buses and trams). The staff are great and will help willingly. We went to see the city. Buy the bus tour ticket at €30 for unlimited travel for two days on all routes and you'll drive past everything worth seeing - work out what you want to get off to see and when you're ready pick up the next bus. Do a bit of research and go off the beaten track for good restaurants. What we'd call a late lunch is the norm in Barcelona and if you try hard enough you'll find excellent food at very reasonable prices (Placa Reial and Boquera Market) If you want a luxury hotel break, upgrade and get free food and drink, free access to the spa and health club etc. Thoroughly recommend the Hesperia Tower.

“The staff are not helpful”

Had a used toothbrush in mt vanity set. I was in a junior suite. Thats unacceptable.

Area recommendations

Do the Ramblas, The Gaudi church and his many other structures all over Barcelona, The beach..etc etc..Also must do the Flamingo dance show.

“Recommendable”

This was quite a pleasant hotel. I would not rate it as quite 5 star. I've no idea why they built it in a working class area. Nice atrium, spacious well furnished rooms. Good aircon. good soundproof and blackout curtains ensured a good nights sleep. Nice bathroom area; awesome shower. Shame there was no coffee making facilities , a complementary cold drink each day would be nice. Do not bother with the mini-bar; two gulps of coke set me back 3.49 Euros. There is a supermarket up the road to get drinks. Delicious food, however ridiculously overpriced Considering how much I paid to stay here I see no reason why I have to pay to use the Spa area. One complementary pass would be nice. Although there is a shuttle service from the airport I had to ask several people where to catch it from. I could not find a single English channel on the TV,considering there is not much to see or do around here in the evenings. Although the Metro is ffew minutes walk away, it takes 25 minutes to get to Ramblas etc. I had difficulty using my pass to get into my room every time. There is nothing more frustrating struggling to get in your room after a hard day doing the sights. Reception changed my pass but it not make a difference. On my last day a porter was called to help me get in.

“Great hotel, but not close to the city centre”

Great hotel, great service, great rooms and a great price. However allow at least 30 mins to get to the city centre by metro. That said, the metro station is only 5 mins away which is convenient. So trade off: Location v Great Hotel for Great price.

“Great hotel - needs taxi”

It's not "downtown" - you definitely need a taxi to go anywhere decent, but it's only a few minutes except at peak hours. Hotel itself is wonderful. Second time I've been there. Architecturally interesting and very nice rooms, with very good staff and comfortable waiting, should you have to.

“Great place close to BCN airport”

this hotel is great for its location half way between the airport and downtown. Super cool hotel, moden, clean and confortable.

Area recommendations

Go to Ramblas, eat at Pinocchio. Good and not very expensive places to eat around Ramblas: Quince Nitts, Caracoles, La fonda. Shopping at Paseo de la gracia City tour and visit La sagrada Familia, La pedrera. Go to Monserrat wich is 2 hours from down town, Eat at El Asador de Aranda, opens at 9 pm, good place to eat and affordable too.

“Nicer Than We Thought”

Pros- Free Shuttle to the Airport, Nice View from the 15th floor, Hotel and Room more modern and upscale than we thought, Got a good deal from Expedia Cons- Nowhere to eat outside the hotel, Hotel food very expensive, Not close to any attractions Great place to stay if you find a great deal and if you're just looking to stay one night before you leave Barcelona (close to the airport).
