Yumotokan

Yumotokan is a ryokan -Japanese-style hotel- located in Otsu in Shiga Prefecture. Surrounded by mountains/ the hotel features onsen -hot spring baths- and some stunning views of Lake Biwa- the largest lake in Japan. Ogoto Onsen/ the local hot spring/ was first discovered around 1200 years ago. In the surrounding areas/ you can take a trip to the the temple situated at the top of Mount Hiei/ or simply admire the breathtaking views which were made famous by ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige -also known as Ando Hiroshige- in one of his most well-known works -8 Views of Ohmi-. At Lake Biwa you can take part in a variety of water sports/ such as kayaking/ windsurfing/ and jet skiing. Theme parks are also located around the lake. Free shuttle service is available from the nearest JR train stations to the hotel.
