We live in the US and stayed for 2 nights with my brother and his wife who live in Yorkshire. We all thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, the food, the location and the fabulous views. We wished we could have stayed longer. The fitness centre was great and we were stunned with the gardens and the terrific views and walks. Would highly recommend and would stay again if in Mullion. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and the food was great!
I have stayed at this hotel under its previous name of Riverbank a number of times and a few times as The Barley.
It seems to be a property in limbo. The bar which is the whole ground floor of the hotel has lost its way and you will eat your breakfast in an empty bar.
The breakfast is, however, very good and the skeleton staff are very friendly and obliging.
There are no shaver sockets in the bathrooms so remember to take an adapter for tooth brush or shaver. The promised one never materialised. remember to ask for the WiFI code early when you check it in as it is not listed anywhere.
The rooms are quite contemporary in style, Roman blinds over the windows and the decor is sound, executive style. However, look beyond the Roman blinds and the windows need repainting and cleaning up.
The main problem is that this place lacks professional management and has dropped to the feel of a B&B.
This was typified by when I asked if I could leave my suitcase for the day somewhere after check out I was assured that as I was the only guest I could have the room all day as it wasn't needed the next day. As I finished my breakfast I was then told a guest that stays two days a week only wanted the room I was in (even though the rest of the rooms were empty) and I had to vacate my room early. However, as soon as I went back to my room (9:15 AM) the cleaners arrived asking if I was leaving, followed by a chase up by the same gentleman.
At £80 per night,it is poor value & not recommended.
Fantastic pub. Could nor be better.
Great food. Barman let me taste all the local beers before ordering. Leslie (licencee) could not do enough for us. Room for 2 nights was large, clean and comfortable.
Best stay on our trip so far!
