We didnt actually stay at Astoria. We stayed at a sister hotel which was hotel Bristol and just lovely. They had to move us due to closures.

A very enjoyable experience
The people at check-in, check-out and restaurant were all very very helpful and friendly. We slept in and missed the buffet breakfast hours so the staff went out of their way and made breakfast just for us. The room and bathroom were nice (and clean). Even though we didn't book one of the front view rooms, the view from our windows was still spectacular with the moon rising over Kvaerner Bay and the lights of Rijeka.

The property is situated very close to the beach. Perfect spot so that you can walk all over the city. Breakfast was great.

Hotel Cancelled Our Reservation
The hotel decided to cancel our reservation on the day of our arrival so they could accept a large group. While they transferred our reservation to a neighbouring hotel, it was an older hotel that was worn around the edges, whereas Hotel Astoria is supposed to be newer and modern. The person at the front desk simply told us of the change and stated that there was nothing more that could be done for us. No effort to compensate us at all. We made our Hotel Astoria reservation in January 2017 for a September 2017 date. To cancel our reservation at the last minute is unprofessional and thus this hotel does not deserve anything except a negative review. Thankfully the staff at the hotel we were transferred to understood that we were unhappy and tried their best to make up for this unfortunate situation.

Nice small hotel. The room is the same... we miss parking but the parking house is very close. Overall great choice and good value for money. And yes, delicious breakfast!!!

Hotel Astoria& Hotels.com a recipe for disaster!
After booking the hotel one week in advance and been charged for the two nights I was about to stay there. We flew for 20 hours and drive for another 3 hours to get there at 1 AM to find out that they didn't have any room for us even though we called that evening and been confirmed that we got the room! I'm not sure who to blame Astoria hotel or hotels.com but in the end my vacation was not going well from the start I have to mention that they made arrangements for us to stay at a different hotel in town but still didn't washed away the stress they have provoked.

When we arrived at the hotel Astoria, we found the hotel is closed. We´ve got no information before. So we looked for another hotel. We booked the hotel Astoria via Expedia. We did not get a refund, neither from the hotel Astoria nor from Expedia. Never ever I will book via Expedia.

Too little for 4 star hotel
Hotel has fantastic location for beach & nightlife. Breakfast was exceptional. As far as hotel room, beds were extremely soft, AC was not working well, just too little for 4 star and price paid, more like 3 star hotel. Parking is difficult and reception is not close to the street.

Great hotel with very helpful staff!
The hotel is situated on a main street just up from the water and is close to shopping, restaurants, and the very long seaside promenade. Our room had a pretty view of the bay and was light and airy. Breakfast on the terrace was very good and the person waiting on us was one of the few during our two weeks travelling, that smiled and welcomed us to a buffet. Coffee was brought quickly and the ambiance sitting outside was great. When we checked in the elevator was not working but the front desk clerk quickly came down to get our bags and help direct us to a parking spot. Great service. When we checked out, I purchased a couple of items from the small glass showcase and the woman on the front desk kindly wrapped them in bubble wrap for me. Opatija is a very beautiful place and given a chance to return, we would love to stay at this hotel again.We ate in a restaurant called Razmarin Restaurant which was just around the corner. It came up as a recommended hotel on TripAdvisor and we throughly enjoyed it. After dinner we took a stroll looking at some of the grand old buildings that were lit up at night, grabbed a gelato and called it a night.

Former Glory
The Astoria was good but the lack of a sea view probably detracted slightly. Our room was fine on the rear side of the hotel and was maintained well. I probably would not rush back I am afraid either to the hotel or the resort which clearly had seen much grander days. It's glory has departed and parts of it were reminiscent of Blackpool in the UK. Sorry to say this. Not a bad stay if this is where you are visiting.

Breakfast was awesome
We stayed in many hotels all over Europe during a 7 week road trip with my daughter. This was a great hotel with an awesome location not right on the beach but with a beach and a 20 second walk to the beach. Also the breakfast was the best we have had during our entire trip. Would definitely stay again if I come back to Opatjia.

Best location in Opatija
We had a 3 days getaway and everything worked out perfect. We were warned about parking problems in Opatija, but this was handled smoothly by the friendly and helpful reception person. A modern parking garage was just few steps from the hotel entrance. Room was big and comfy, breakfast was complete and the location was perfect both for beach during day, and restaurants at night. Friendly people at all levels in the hotel. Some noise from the street at night, but not a very big problem when you are in this central spot. We recommend both the city of Opatija and Astoria Design Hotel for a getaway or holiday. We will be back soon!

Great location and view
I thought the service was excellent and the view was amazing. The only complaints I had was lack of pool- you have free access to the sister hotel but its a good km walk away, and you have to pay for a pool towel. The food at breakfast was very good but the coffee was like diesel fuel! I think they do that on purpose so you don't sit there all morning! I would stay here again as Opatija was lovely and the view from hotel is amazing. The young woman at the front desk was very helpful as well.

We stayed here for four nights on our first visit to Croatia, choosing Opatija which appeared to have more facilities than Rijeka, where we had flown into. It's only a 30 minute bus ride between the two towns, costing 16 Kuna per person each way (just under £2 each). The hotel location was perfect, 2 mins walk to the promenade which is lined with shops and restaurants. We had dinner in the hotel on our first night and it was lovely; cooked perfectly. They only offered B&B customers two options, though, and they were the same options on each of our four nights.

Spacious room, great breakfast
The room at Astoria was spacious and comfortable, and included a small living room. I appreciated little details, such as the four hooks behind the shower door to hang towels, plus the shower cap that included a hair tie. Breakfast was included and fantastic, including caviar and mimosas. Internet included as well, so everyone in the family was happy. My only complaint would be that there are no electric sockets near the bed, and even the telephone is located on the desk (on the other side of the room), so wake up calls made you really wake up to be able to pick up. The hotel is not located in front of the ocean but we didn't mind. We had a lovely stroll down the beach and another on the main street whch offers lots of shopping spots. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly.

I had some sub-par, mercenary stays in Croatian hotels, but this hotel made you feel like a valued guest. Perfect location. The suite was absolutely perfect with a wraparound balcony facing the ocean and the city. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel across the street from "beach". In quotations because beach is a concrete pad. Provided breakfast good with enough variety to keep most people happy. Only complaint is severe lack of parking which don't imagine is a problem except at peak season(July/Aug.)

Romantic Getaway
My wife and I stayed for one night at the Astoria hotel. We have made it a tradition to stay in Opatija every time we visit Croatia. This was the best experience we had thus far. The staff was extremely accommodating and professional. The complimentary breakfast buffet was extraordinary, the coffee not so great when you compare to the espresso's from the local cafe's. The best part of all was the view from our room...BREATHTAKING. Astoria Design Hotel is the only place we will be staying when we go back. I recommend splurging for the suite on the 6th floor, and ask for room 605, the best room in the hotel...the experience was priceless!!

Lovely hotel with good staff.
This is a very nice hotel with new decor and helpful staff. Their sister hotel has a pool which you can use - old but adequate. The views were terrific from our room. There are plenty of good walks either along the coast or up into the hills.

Front desk staff were wonderful. We were upgraded to an amazing suite because of some confusion with our reservation (and Expedia isues). We didn't want to leave the room! Breakfast was fantastic too.

This is a nice hotel near the centre of Town. Staff were friendly and efficient. Hotel was clean and well kept. Ask about parking as the Hotel has this available at a reasonable rate. If you miss out on parking in the hotel this could present an inconvenience. The pool was at another hotel - but was not worth the trip.

Astoria hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. we enjoyed our stay very much. this is a very modern hotel in an oldstyle building , very nice combination. we didnt eat any meal other than breakfast there but that was very extensive and tasty. our room was comfortable with a view of the strip. would have liked to have a balcony next time we stay there (which we will). thank you for making it easy to stay there, we ended up extending our stay . The shower was a little awkward as it didnt block water from going all over the bathroom.
