“Great place to stay for F1 weekend”
My son and I stayed at the Equatorial for the 2010 F1 GP. Several organised F1 tours use the hotel. The hotel was really well into the F1 experience with displays, a Lotus on the front steps, the bar fully decorated for F1 etc. The overall quality is high, but the outside looks a little dated. It has some very exclusive and expensive retaurants, expect to find the locals there with exotic cars outside. The location is good, 2 minutes from a monorail station and 10 minutes walk to the Petrona Twin Towers and huge KLCC shopping mall. Lots of good value bars and restaurants near by.
“Great value!”
Location: a few minutes walk from a monorail station makes it very convenient to get to and around (only 4-5 stops from KL Sentral). It is also about five minutes walk to an LRT station giving easy access to all of KL. It is also right next to the Petronas Towers and is ideal for shoppers! The staff were great! Very friendly and helpful, especially when dealing with printing some documents. May not look as glamorous from the outside as other hotels in the area but once inside it is a very nice hotel!
“A convenient old-timer”
Whilst the Equatorial could do with a little refurbishment, its location makes it a really good choice. In the heart of KL, business, shopping, dining on its doorstep, a monorail stop within metres, the metro just a few minutes walk away, it would be hard to find somewhere more convenient.
“Living here again next time”
Before arriving to Kuala Lumpur,I booked a standard room from this hotel,I arrived in the hotel at ten o'clock on August 20,than the check-in time 2 hours ahead of schedule, but the services still check in for me.Although my English is limited, but she was able to quickly understand what I mean, just a few minutes to completed the process, and be same as in check out.The location of this hotel away from the city center close. The room have a large space and comfortable environment, clean and facilities. In this hotel, I spent a pleasant day. I'll stay here again.
“Not going back”
Unfriendly and unsmiling staff. Unbelievably sullen. First impression after tiring terrible flight was off putting. Even though I had specifically asked for non smoking room at the time of booking, we arrived very early morning only to be told, quite curtly, the smoking room was ready. When I insisted on a non smoking room the desk clerk said too bad we would have to wait 45 minutes or an hour while they found a non smoking room. Stood my ground. Finally one and half hours after standing at the front desk we were given an upgraded room, a joke of course. Room turned out to be in the back facing a construction site. Considering we went off season and the hotel was at least fifty percent empty it could have been a room facing the Petronas Towers. Also, concierge talked a lot but most unhelpful. Hotel does nothing to get you tickets whether for a show, movie or the Towers. Cheap old fixtures in rooms. TV was so old my maid at home has a better one. Room service food cod and table service always incomplete etc. In Definitely Not a five or four or three star. Just pretending to be one. Oh and one last piece of advice for the hotel staff...guests should always be addressed by their last name not by their first name.
