“Can not wait to get out”
The room was very dirty and smelly , people at the service desk were not professional and service is very bad, the internet service is very poor , we had no internet for 2/3 days, rooms are very small , bed covers and pillows were extremely dirty, air condition is not working properly, very old and very small TV (13") channels are not clear, dressers are extremely small and overall everything is soooooooooooooooooooo bad
“If you can't smell.”
My friend and I did a budget trip to Kuala Lumpur and didn't expect much from our hotel but were pleasantly surprised. The D'Oriental Inn seems to be a hit and miss for most people, but for us it was a hit, minus the smell. The service was always friendly and they were willing to go out of their way to help us, especially the kitchen staff, they were fantastic! Our room was always clean, and so was the rest of the edifice, the only problem was the funky smell which we equated to the heat and humidity of the city and the fact that our building was relatively old. The location was central and next to two of the best markets in KL. The hotel was located in the middle of the China Town market which is a little overwhelming, but it's fun haggling with the salesmen. However, every time you have to go back to the hotel you have to fight off the salesmen. So the location is not suited for those looking for a "quiet" time. Overall we were very satisfied with the service the hotel provided. Next time we go to KL we will consider the D'Oriental Inn.
“just to spend the night”
This is a very basic hotel. The rooms are very simple even though you have air conditioning, TV, and full shower room. My room was rather dark and not very inviting. But I tink that, considering the price it is still a good value.
“Quiet Haven in a Busy Market”
Very happy about the entire hotel. Surprised at the cleanliness and daily cleaning service. Room was large enough to move about easily and quiet as the only window opens to the wall of the next building. So sacrifice view for a quiet night of sleep. I like the card system for entering rooms. The AC and television with English channels were a nice bonus. The free wifi works pretty well (on the 3rd floor at least) though the codes sometimes need to be re-entered. Fantastic location close to restaurants, shopping, grocery stores and the monorail station. I booked a few days and decided to stay longer since it was so comfortable. They booked me in again without a problem. The only issues I could speak of are: watch what you put under the AC, it can leak. That's usually a given though. Don't keep sugars in the room unless they are very tightly sealed. Small ants will find it otherwise. But that is common everywhere you go in Southeast Asia (as far as I have seen). The walls are a little thin so it can get noisy if your neighbors are inconsiderate (and watch the football game at 2AM; cheering). But that can't be blamed on anyone but the inconsiderate guests.
“Not Impressed”
The hotel was difficult to access after noon as the sidewalks and street filled with wall to wall shops as this was in Chinatown. I would not stay here again if I had known this. The room was not very clean.
“Very small”
when we got the room with double bed there was tiny with no room to walk or stand either side of the bed, the sheets dint look too inviting. breakfast was supplied but nothing special, location was in chinatown which was great , but street closes to traffic at 3pm each day.no room service or water provided, had to run a/c to git air in room. very budget hotel, if sleep is all you want then this will do.
“not impressed”
smelly, no vent, good location in china town
“SMACKED RIGHT IN CHINATOWN, convenient location and suitable for humble travellers”
if your not going to spend much time in the hotel then its suitable for u, it was difficult to manover with ur luggage hence all the chinatown stalls. the rooms are small but clean enough as well as the bathroom... MAKE SURE U ASK FOR NEW BEDSHEETS.. mine werent that clean!! breakfast is cheap and not that bad since there arent much breakfast places open that early in that area.
“Value for money”
Right smack in the middle of KL China Town. Very good budget hotel if you just want a place to sleep and take a shower. Breakfast was also OK. Although I would not recommend this hotel to travellers who would want a place to relax and spend mote time at the hotel.
“Pretty ok hotel for low budget”
I was a little worried about this hotel because there were some bad reviews saying that the room was dirty, had bed bugs and there was no hot water. But my room was pretty clean, and I had hot water and everything. The only inconvenience was the little bit smelly carpet. Another thing that bothered me a little was the cleaning ladies that came to clean the room at 8am in the morning! I don't know who wakes up and already leaves the room at such early time when on holiday... I had to keep my "don't disturb" sign every morning :)
