Exceptional service, beautiful rooms and superb location. The hotel arranged a private guide for us who was first rate. We asked for a private car to meet us at the airport which was there on time. They secured us fantastic seats to the Bolshoi which is adjacent to the hotel.

The Metropol is a centrally located hotel, roughly 2 blocks away from the Kremlin and Red Square. It is an older hotel -- with somewhat of a grand feeling to it. The huge strength of this hotel is its concierge staff. Americans in Moscow can have huge problems with the language, transportation, knowing where to go. This hotel's concierge staff were endlessly patient and helpful to myself and my wife. The room was large, clean, and quite reasonable. With larger fluffier towels, would be up there with the 4 star operations. It was a little cold, which we were told was the fault of the government. I would have preferred a coffee pot in the room, rather than being forced to forage for coffee in the morning. Still, even considering these small negatives, we would certainly return to this hotel were we in Moscow again.

"Great little hotel, a little far from attractions"
This is a great little hotel, but a little far from the Kremlin and the Red Square, - it's a little up the road from Bolshoi theatre. However has all the facilities required for a comfortable stay.
Peter I is appointed a 5 star hotel, probably a little overrated, maybe a 4 star, as if you were to compare to other 5 star hotels in Moscow (such as Hotel National, Four Season and Ritz Carlton) it doesn't really live up the 5 star hotel standards in Moscow.
The rooms are big but the bathrooms small, the breakfast is sufficient but just that little bit short on taste. Staff are friendly enough.
The four sides of the 21,000 square-metre Red Square are bordered by colourful St Basil’s Cathedral, the GUM shopping centre, the Kremlin and Lenin’s mausoleum, and the State Historical Museum. Outside the square are rows of souvenir stalls and impersonators posing for pictures. The Kremlin contains the three gold topped cathedrals of cathedral square and the Armory museum.
