“Great Location and Breakfast”

Wielopole is conveniently located in easy walking distance to the Old Town, Wawel Castle, and even the train station (without large luggage). Breakfast is a very good continental offering with breads, hams, cheeses, jams, vegetables, fruit, eggs, and sausages. Coffee, tea, and juice are also available. Pay parking on the street if you came by car. Overall, good hotel for your money.

Area recommendations
Spend time wandering the back alleys of the Old Town to find restaurants that are hidden gems.

“Friendly & convenient.”

This hotel came up to expectations. It is well situated being only about 10 minutes from the main square and within walking distance of main places o0f interest. It is near tram stops and about 20 minutes from the railway station on foot. the rooms were well furnished and comfortable with very well presented en suite toilet and shower rooms. The staff were most friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Breakfast included fruit, cheeses, cold meats as well as a hot choice: eggs & sausages. The hotel organises bookings to Auschwitz. All this and the hotel is very reasonably priced. Strongly recommended.

Area recommendations
Visit the main square with its renaissance arcade, fine church of Our Lady. Visit the Wawel Castle and Cathedral. The handsome Fransiscan and Dominican churches are fine, the former with art nouveasu windows and coloured frescoes. The Archdiocesan museum has art works, vestments, church artefacts and belongings of Pope John Paul II. The Joun Paul II centre opposite also has much on his life. there are walking ntours leaving the square at 10 am which we used on te first day and foiund it a very good way of finding our way round the city. The 11th Century church of St Andrews has a stunning baroque interior. A trip to Auschwitz. is harrowing but a must, as is the Jewish quarter with its synagogues.
Getting there
Flights to Krakow. A taxi to the town centre costs about £20 but there is a train every half hopur wich is very cheap.
Dining
There are a wide variety of restuarants. I recommend the Michelin recommended Hotel Copernicus for a fine meal. The Wierzynek restuarant has very good food at reasonable prices: Polish dishes abound and I recommend the trout. You can buy tickets that include dinner preceeded by a Chopin concert upstairs- not to be missed! An atmospheric cafe is the Nowerolski inside the Cloth Hall with views over the square and the church of the Assumption. It has stylish art nouveau interiors and has seen the turbulance of Krakow's 20th Century history: Lenin and Germanofficers visited in their time. The cafe was restored to the family owners at the fall of Communism.

“GREAT hotel!”

I cannot say enough about this great little hotel! It was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had in Europe. Good location, very clean, airy rooms, roomy and modern bathrooms, friendly and capable staff, great breakfast...and priced right. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Poland.

“Location good, hotel was okay”

After reading the rave reviews here I was a bit overwhelmed when checking in - it is pretty similar to most 3 star hotels in European cities. After staying 4 days I can add the following: Positive: location is excellent and the bed very comfortable. Negative: service was surprisingly poor, difficult internet access (I went to another hotel to use the internet) and it was a bit noisy both from the street as well as the fact that the stairs are not carpeted so you hear everyone using them. I didn't love it but would consider staying there again if the price was right.

“great location”

The hotel could have a bigger sign as you could miss the entrance however when inside everything was just perfect for our holiday. The staff all spoke english and could not have been more helpful. The room was very nice and a good size. Very impressed with the bathroom. Breakfast is typically continental which you expect when in Europe. The location is ideal, just 10minutes from the market square and sights within the city easily accessible. We booked our tour to Auschwitz and the Salt Mines through the hotel and would give top marks to the companies they used. Slight hiccup when we were returning from Auschwitz. Our tour coach broke down and we had to wait 40mins for a replacement. Overall we had a great trip to Krakow and will definately return.

Area recommendations
The centre of Krakow is beautiful. Lovely old buildings to visit and lots of cafes/restaurants to sit outside at and watch the world go by. The jewish quarter is also very nice.
When to go
We went in late May and the weather was great. Only problem was that there were a lot of school trips and it took longer on the excursions
Getting around
You can walk to a lot of places but if you wish you can take one of the electric buggies to all city tourist places
Must see
Auschwitz, The Salt mines and Wawel castle
Dining
Restaurants in market square are a little more expensive than ones down the side streets

“A pleasant stay in Cracow, close to Old Town”

I can't say enough encouraging words about the Wielopole. Very pleasant staff, nice, clean room, good breakfast. It is a mere ten minute walk to Old Town. If there is anything negative to say, it is this. I needed a second cake of soap.

Area recommendations
Old Town, Salt mine, Schindler's factory, Auschwitz-Birkenau.

“Gets my vote”

Cannot fault this hotel. The rooms were clean, provided a kettle and coffee and tea ( always a must ), and quiet. We hardly knew there was anyone else in the hotel until going in for breakfast. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was excellent, with sufficient range of hot and cold food which was constantly refreshed. When requested, toast was made for us. Liked the little touches that included bottled water in our rooms and the biscuits in the foyer. The hotel is excellently placed for sightseeing and we made good use of its proximity to the old Markt, Vawel Castle and surrounding suburbs. I would definitely stay at Wielepoele again and would not hesitate to reccommend it to family, friends and other travellers.

Area recommendations
I would recommend the Auschwitz and Birkenau tour. I thought I knew a lot about the holocaust, and conditions within the concentration camps, only to discover that I did not. It was a thought provoking tour and well worth spending much of the day on it. Also loved wandering around the old city; with gems to be found in tucked away little corners. Everyone was friendly and helpful, even when my three phrases of polish and their english failed.
When to go
We went in December for 5 days and loved the Christmas Market. It was very cold and snowed while we were there but it was so well managed, we hardly noticed. The market was relatively small but not crowded except for the Saturday and even that was managable. It was hard to choose from all the amber on sale and we got some great christmas presents.

“well located”

Helpful staff - well located hotel close to old quarter.Good breakfasts and overall value for money. Should we return to Krakow we would definately stay at this hotel.

Getting there
Take the train from the airport to the centre of Krakow. A shuttle bus takes you from arrivals to the station though it is only 5 minutes walk away in any case.
