“Excellent location and friendly staff.”
From the minute we stepped through the door of the hotel, we felt welcome. The staff on reception spoke excellent English and were friendly and helpful. The hotel wifi is only available in the reception, but the rooms have free internet and you can borrow a cable for your laptop from reception. We ate breakfast in the restaurant and found it to be excellent. A good selection of things on the buffet table and hot food cooked to order. We booked 2 excursions (Auschwitz & Salt Mines) through reception which is something I've never done before as I always book my own trips. But this was the same price as booking on line and they arranged everything for me. The hotel is only about a 10 minute walk from the main square and we felt it was in a good location for exploring the city. Our room was on the first floor and was spotlessly clean. I have a bit of a thing about mattresses and was delighted to find the bed very comfortable. There is no hairdryer in the room, but you can ask for one at reception. The shower felt roomy inside the cubicle and had good water pressure which did not fluctuate in temperature. In fact there was nothing I could fault the room on. If I was visiting Krakow again, I would definitely stay here again.
“Good Hotel, Good Prices”
Overall good hotel
“Pity about the noise”
This Hotel is good value for money. The food is good and the staff are polite and helpful. Sachets of tea and coffee and a kettle are provided but no milk. I was given some from the bar (in a glass) after I asked, but some UHT milk would have been better as there is no fridge. The only real problem was late night noise from other guests arriving back at 1.00, 2.00 and 3.00 am shouting, banging doors and conducting loud conversations between rooms which to my mind is totally unacceptable. I did point this out at reception and expressed the view that this is something they should have dealt with when it was happening.
“Nice Hotel in an up and coming location”
Hotel staff extremely helpful and its location may initially seem remote from the centre but the area is full of interesting bars synagogues cafes and restaurants.. Our first room was on the top floor (4 floors up) and my mother who is 75 found it difficult to negotiate the stairs, the staff moved her to the first floor as soon as a room became available. The room was very noisy at night but was preferable to the climb. I would stay there again but may request a room facing the back which is much quieter..
“A delightful place to stay”
We liked the Hotel Spatz very much. It was quiet, clean and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, quite large and with attractive furniture and decor and the en suite had a large and powerful shower. All towels were changed as required - that was mostly daily for us. There are some snags (of which we were aware before we went and chose to ignore); there were many steps up to the room and no lift - but a nice member of staff carried our bags -and no fridge or safe in the room. However, we managed fine without these and left money and passports in the room with no adverse consequences. There was a kettle and cups and we bought coffee and creamer in the deli a few doors down. We also loved Krakow; it is very picturesque and has a very peaceful ambience. We felt very safe there. The weather was gorgeous and we found plenty to do for 5 days including a visit to Auschwitz which though sobering is not to be missed. We booked through the hotel and the arrangements were excellent. We also found all the Polish people with whom we had dealings to be very friendly and this too helped to make the holiday very enjoyable.
“Excellent”
Great hotel 5 mins from Castle and 15 mins from Centre. Hotel staff were very friendly and the hotel was quiet. Would recommend Krakow and for the money this hotel was great value. Plenty of resturants around and all very reasonably priced.
“Brilliant staff!”
Can't fault the Spatz in any way. Clean, tidy, great breakfasts and, above all, a fantastic staff. They were all young, keen, friendly, happy and seemed to work so well together - we thought they were amazing.
“Good Value”
I visited Krakow in November and had a nice stay at the Hotel Spatz. The hotel is located in the Jewish Quarter and therefore not in a touristy part of town -- a huge plus for me. Still, Krakow is so small that I could walk to everywhere I wanted to go. The hotel was very clean and rooms were fairly large. The continental breakfast was great -- a couple of the mornings we were also offered a hot meal -- eggs, sausage, etc. The staff was friendly and helpful. I gave the room comfort a 4 for two reasons -- no safe in the room and no refrigerator. Neither of these are a big deal but I kind of just expect these things these days. The only negative thing I have to say is that we were given tokens on check-in for a free drink at the hotel bar -- and then when we tried to use them 2 days later we were told the promo was no longer valid. In the end they honored them, but that was weird. The Mexican restaurant/bar in the hotel is also excellent -- I would recommend.
“Great Hotel, Great Neighbourhood”
Hotel Spatz is ideally located in the fun, funky area of Kazimierz but also close to Wawel Castle and the Rynek. The hotel is well appointed and attractive but the really good thing is the staff who are friendly, very well informed and helpful. Breakfasts were excellent - ask for eggs done any way you like. 5 out of 5
“I'll be back.”
