“A Great time in Poland”
The only thing missing was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Friendly staff, great location and excellent room made this a fantastic trip for us. The staff could not have been more helpful, first class all round.
“Beautiful example of a historical hotel”
The Grand lives up to its name in every respect from the magnificant staircase to its towering ceilings and marble bathrooms. We enjoyed our stay entirely. Its was less than a 2 minute walk from the main square in Krakow and so in walking distance from most of the tourist sites in the city. The only minor downside is that there is a nightclub across the street from the hotel. Although it was quiet for most of our holiday, the last night was a little noisy. But this really didnt effect how much we enjoyed our stay.
“Vacation in Poland The Hotel experience was great everyone is ready to help and make you feel at hom”
We love everything in the Hotel completly excellent!!!!!!!
“V. Good, not quite great...”
We booked this hotel on a friend's recommendation and we were not disappointed - main benefit of this hotel is an amazing location - just outside the main square and could not be more central. Other benefits of the hotel are very friendly and professional staff, all spoke very good English and the grandeur of the decor and comfortable and clean rooms. Negatives are minor - breakfast was adequate but not great and I was expecting slightly more of the room - it wasn't the biggest room and had limited TV and no tea/coffee making facilities. Overall though, this is a lovely hotel, well run and a safe bet for Krakow, I would regard it as a 3.5/4 star hotel.
“Superb Cracow”
Having visited Prague a few years ago we ventured a little further east to Cracow. The city is delightful, with a great ambience. Thankfully many people working in the city centre speak English which made the stay easier, but even just a little outside we had to use our pigeon Polish. A visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine is an absolute must (a short bus ride) and Auschwitz is only an hour away by bus and worth the trip. Other highlights were the Kopiec Kościuszki mound (we walked there from the city centre, but it's probably better to get the bus!) and the apparently permanent outdoor market in the main square. The square has restaurants on every side - a pleasure to try somewhere interesting and new every evening. There is an enormous Galeria shopping mall just a few minutes walk from the main square which is worth investigating. The Grand Hotel is just one block from the main city centre. The location meant we could step out for evening meals and drinks with ease. The hotel offers free Internet access but bizarrely this is wired Ethernet with no WiFi available although the excellent Metropolitan restaurant next door did provide this which was handy. We booked a superior room which was a slight waste - far too enormous, with a separate entrance room and day room. Aircon was poor but sufficient and very welcome. Our visit in late May saw temperatures of 28 degrees C.
“The Krakow Experience”
We recently traveled to five European cities. Krakow had the best overall accomodation with both friendlyness of staff, entrapeneurs and Polish citizens. Everyone made us feel welcome and met our every need. The Grand Hotel is in a great location to the city square plus shopping. We did a few side trips and were always picked up and droped off at the Grand Hotel. The tazi driver from the airport was the only honest driver that we encountered in Europe. I would love to go again and stay at the Grand Hotel.
“Beutiful and exceptionally clean hotel.”
Delightful hotel with excellent service. Few product available in bathroom: disappointing. Excellent range of breakfast products yet one often had to wait in order for food to be presented and then other items were cool. Not 5 star!
“Fantastic Hotel”
Stayed the 16-17th Feb 2011. Very possibly the best hotel I have ever been a guest at. Fantastic staff, superb location, cleanest bathroom I have ever layed eyes on. Room very quiet indeed. Did not hear a sound from mid afternoon onwards. Old fashioned and steeped in history.
“a lovely break”
My daughter and I stayed at The Grand during a short break in Krakow. We found the hotel to be ideal for us. We liked the palatial feel to some aspects, the convenience and overall service. The only thing I would change is not to have any noise at night -there was a little external noise on a couple of occasions- but then we were very close to the main square so it would probably not be possible to prevent this. I would recommend this hotel for those wanting a relaxing break.
“karkow's best hotel”
love it!
