“Good”

We were slightly concerned about the location but found it to be good. In general the area is quite but there are a few Thai restaurants within a short walking distance if you do not want to be stuck with the hotel fayre which is expensive by Thai standards. In general a good 4+ star hotel which I would have no worries about recommending.

“lovely start with very stressful finish”

This was our 3rd visit in Thailand and Sofitel is a very good hotel.Room was big and comfy with room service twice a day.I did not like a taste of complimentary water there.I tried food and drink only in pool bar and it was nothing special.Taste so so and drinks with out any decoration.Staff don't understand basic english hovewer hotel have very good enviroment and fantastic pool.When we check out staff collected our luggages at reception and it was missing.When my wife tried to ask staff what has happened no one was able to help because of problem with communication in english.We call all managment and some taxi driver took our luggages with other guests.They send a car and bring our luggages back after 20 mins and apologised to my crying wife.I think this is unacceptable in this class hotel.Don't offer a service you can't provide.We had a lovely stay there of course except last 40 mins.

“amazing pool”

We stayed over Christmas 2010 for 4 nights. The pool was absolutely amazing, we didn't miss the beach at all. We had dinner in the Thai restaurant on Christmas eve and it was very good, we were overlooking the main party so felt part of it. The other evenings we wandered down the road and ate at a couple of local restaurants, very cheap and very acceptable. The spa was beautiful, I had a manicure and pedicure, it was a great experience. I would definitely reccommend this hotel.

“Lovely hotel, good quality food but poor service”

The Sofitel is a lovely looking hotel, well equipped rooms and has an absolutely fantastic pool – apparently, the largest in Thailand. We found the food – both the breakfasts and the dinners in the two specialty restaurants – the White Lotus and the Italian to be of an excellent standard. However, there is an issue with the majority of the service. Many of the staff speak low levels of English and, although there were a couple of really good staff, it was very frustrating over a period of time. Also, the beach is separated from the hotel by a small road and a number of electricity lines. If you do go, branch out from the hotel – up the road, about 500m walk is a great local restaurant called Coconuts – good food and great value!

“beautiful thailand hotel”

Stayed 6 nights. Spectacular hotel, spacious rooms, have never seen a pool this large except in Vegas. Beautiful ocean views from property. Only a couple hundred foot walk to beach. Pool staff available on beach as well. Only complaint was with the hotel's restaurants. We never had a good meal and service was always slow. Only exception was breakfast - too bad it wasn't served all day. Lunch and dinner was expensive of such poor quality I can't believe the hotel hasn't replaced the manager. I've read this same complaint on expedia before I booked our trip but figured the food couldn't possibly be as bad as portrayed in the reviews. Unfortunatly it was. Hotel staff was very friendly and always available to accomodate taxi's, boat excursions, etc.

Hire a boat to visit the many island beaches - spectacular.

“Simply Awesome”

Really great hotel bascially. Nice, spacious, well appointed rooms, hotel ameneties good, several restaurants, bars all in a really nice relaxed collonial feel. Biggest pool in Thailand and it is darn big, we never felt anything other than we had the whole thing to ourselves. Staff are all extremely helpful, although a few mistakes were made here and there but only small things. Food was fantastic all round and the breakfast buffet was probably the best we've ever had. Go on the Hong Island day trip its much better than the Phi Phi cattle drive. In summary, Fantastic.

“Great time to vist 29 Aug - 5 Sep.”

The hotel was all we had expected. The swimming pool was fantastic. The staff were fantastic, helpful, efficient and always smiling. We ate in the three restaurants that were open and all were top class. The golf course was great and quite tricky considering it was only a small area. All round a very relaxing, enjoyable experience and we would return anytime.

“Superb hotel with outstanding level of personal service.”

Beautiful setting and grounds. Highly attentive and genuine staff contribute to a very relaxing stay. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for high levels of luxury. Would love to return.

“Would love to go back”

This accomodation is of world class. Staff were very helpful with friendly service. No request appeared to be a problem. Staff would offer suggestions if you could not make up your mind which was refreshing as there was never any dissapointment. All very professional. Well equipped with great ammenities.

“Definately a place to stay”

This hotel provided all that we needed for a much needed rest after our Asian tour. The hotel location was scenic with an extraordinary view of daily sunsets. The hotel grounds were beautiful with a large infinity pool and swim up bar. The staff were professional and friendly. The grounds were well cared for and rooms exceptionally clean. The food was varied and excellent with a grand buffet breakfast featuring western and eastern selection of foods.

The hotel provides a list of a good selection of day trips to local islands and other local activities at a reasonable cost.
