Proximity to the beach was great and staff are so nice. Didn’t like warm beer,small bar,poor food in restaurant and the rooms need seriously updating,we paid over £1000 for a beach room supposed to have internet and tv but it didn’t,the front door was falling apart,the bed was saggy but big,the rail around the balcony was falling down and patio door don’t lock,needs money spending to bring upto standards,says 3 star but more like a 1 star accommodation.

Staff and location are great but the place in need of serious maintenance and modernization. And the breakfast, probably the saddest breakfast experience I had anywhere in the World. People are very friendly, helpful, and lovely though. Yes, I would still go back due to it's location and great staff.

Central and clean hotel
Al’s resort is a good all round place to stay,the staff were friendly and helpful. The swimming pools are nice also. The surrounding area is good with plenty to see and restaurants etc however Chaweng is on the decline along with most resorts I’ve visited over the years in Thailand.

Really good beach. Pool also good. Plenty of places to eat. Close to the night clubs and Central Festival Great donuts across the road at a donut trailer.

This property is in a good location to walk to shopping and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room itself was quite old and not very clean. The bed was so hard that it made it difficult to sleep. We really enjoyed the beach access however, it is steps from the beach and the pool has a beautiful view.

You get what you pay for
I booked als resort for 2 adults and 1 child then called Expedia to put a note on requesting an infants cot as I was bringing our toddler as well as our son and it stated on the website that infant cots were free. I also messaged als resort to advise there were be an additional toddler travelling on top of the 2 adults and 1 child. Upon arrival they said that yes the toddler was free but although the booking was for 2 adults and 1 child that was just the charge for 2 adults and that I infact had to pay them an additional 8000 thai baht for my son. I told them I booked 2 adults and a child so I was not paying again. I told them I wanted a refund. Eventually they reluctantly agreed that they would not charge me but I would have to pay 300 baht a day for his breakfast even though I had paid for 2 adults and a child bed and breakfast. Upon inspection of the room I nearly cried. It was filthy, thick layers of dust. What I could only describe as prison issue bath robes. The cupboard doors were hanging off. No tea and coffee facilities as advertised well unless you class a broken kettle and one cup as facilities. We were provided with 2 towels for a family. The shower was only one temperature which was hot so my toddler could not even use it. 3-4 coat hangers so we lived out of our cases. Next doors room service plates left outside for days. No working safe or tv and breakfast was horrendous. Good location but only if your happy to rough it!

Beautiful cottages and rooms in central Chaweng
I have stayed here multiple times. Beautiful landscaping and pools. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Bathroom floor in the cottages needs an upgrade. Sweet location right in the middle of the Chaweng shopping road and the beach. Restaurant is too expensive in my opinion but I like 70B beers and 50B pad Thai too...

Excuses of no WiFi in the rooms, many different reasons offered, scams with jet ski hire, saw several people scammed on the beach, be very wary of this, condition of hotel is average, needs up grade. Take a camp matteress. Appalling bed.

Great locaion with basic service.
The room type I booked is just so so, basic, with bad noice isolation between rooms. Will try the villa room next time, which should be better and closer to the pool. The location of the hotel is GREAT! Beach right in front, lots of great shops and resturants around. Big shopping mall just across the street with supermarket so you can get anything you need there, and can enjoy movie there as well! Staffs are friendly and helpful, breakfast is ok as well.

Nice hotel -- but staff ripped us off.
We stayed at Al's for 2 nights. The pool area right on the ocean was by far the nicest I had seen in Thailand. Lots of chairs and they even had floaty's in the pool for guests. I asked the front desk how much the laundry service was and they told me 25 baht or 50 baht for express. Every where else it is about 50 baht for one KG of clothing -- so I got the express laundry service at our hotel. When we went to check out, I find out that they failed to tell me it was 50 baht per clothing item! They charged me over 800 baht to wash a couple pieces of clothing. I couldn't believe that they would rip their guests off that badly for a laundry service. So i guess if you stay here -- do NOT get your clothes washed here OR eat any of the little packages of peanuts they leave on your bed (they will charge you).

It was in a great location in Chaweng. Close to shops but far enough to not to hear the main busy street. It's right along the beach which is always a plus! Ask for a room far from the restaurant because it can make your room smelly. Be ready with bug spray. Our room had tons of mosquitos. They said it rained a lot before we arrived so that's why. If you stay closer to the beach, the ocean breeze blows them away. Room was a little outdated but big enough for two. Bed was very hard so be prepared for that! bathroom was odd. There's no separation of shower to toilet so after showers get a little messy. Other than that, decent hotel to stay in. Front desk were very helpful with our tourist questions. Another plus is hotel is close to cheap massages! A must! They even have a massage section on the beach with the hotel.

Great room inside but you felt like you had to keep the curtains closed due to the "set out" (and I'm def not shy). overall pretty good and all the staff i spoke to were great and mostly had excellent english.

Great location on the beach
Great location, right on the beach with a pool. Cushioned sunbeds on beach. Large clean rooms with comfy bed, air con, cable TV and fridge. Luggage store available after check out. Just off the main road with lots of bars and restaurants. Didn't eat at hotel, but used beach bar - soft drinks quite expensive in comparison to other places, but good happy hour(s) offers for beer and cocktails.

Great place and value, far from everything
The place is a great value for what you get. It's very quiet, peaceful, clean, great facilities but there's not much around. There's a convenience store that's open 24 hours. The restaurant was slow/awful/overpriced. They made me wait an hour before I had to ask what the issue was. There was a problem with the oven. I was spending $20+ a day on taxis getting to the more popular parts of the island.

Hotel served a purpose as a base to travel around Samui. A little tired in appearance could do with some renovation work. Plenty of choice at breakfast although the staff more interested in their phones than resetting tables etc. Excellent beach with waterspout facilities and very short walk into main town area. Just far away enough from all night party spots not to be able to hear the music in the rooms at night

Hotel convenient to all amenities.
The resort was in a great location. On one end was the beach and on the other, nightlife, eater etc. Only hassle is that the main road is a one way, so if you hire a scooter you have to do a whole round the block to get back to the hotel. Everything was walking distance which was great and there is a convenience store right at the door step. Breakfast was buffet but wasn't amazing. It was pretty average, bacon, egg, fried rice and sausages. We ordered room service twice and both times they were incorrect so we just gave up on it.

Gross, very touristy area of Thailand. The town had a problem with its sewage so the whole place smelled like raw sewage. I would look to stay in a different part of the island. To the credit of the hotel, it is decent value for the price, you are on the beach and is also close to airport, but again, I would look to other parts of the island.
