We stayed in the family room, for japan standard the room was quite big. Everything is very clean, the staff is very helpful and they do speak good english. Hotel is 4 min from Sannomiya train station and it is surrounded by restaurants, supermarket,s convenience stores, shops etc

I liked the property very much and I would book it again on my next visit to Kobe. The only issue I had is that i could connect to a wireless carrier to follow the instructions when the link in the confirmation email was clicked. The maps outside the stations do not show the street name asahi. After spending over 30 minutes trying to find in on a map in the subway exit, a japanese woman wanted to help me and she called the hotel, and they provided detailed instructions to guide us to the hotel. instead of providing a link to the hotel, they should provide a detailed steps from leaving the Sannomiya JR station, which is a common arrival point to the Kobe area.

The room was fine, and the facilities were generally up to the Japanese business hotel standard. However, the internet connectivity for the whole hotel (both wifi and wired connections) was out the night we visited. Some old-fashioned charm is fine, but it seems important for a business hotel to have internet access in this day and age.

It is just several mins walking distance away from the JR station. And there is a Carpark just beside it. No matter you drive or taking public transport, it is also very convenient. There is a fantastic huge chess set beside the restaurant, a nice decoration and it is also playable. I was unlucky that the Wi-Fi was out of service on the first night, and it has been fixed the next day.

We booked this place a night before as we weren't happy with the original place we were staying at. For the price we paid the room was 100x better then we were expecting to get. The staff were also very lovely.

Great location but unreliable wifi
Overall not a bad place to stay, great location, service/staff were professional and friendly. Just 2 complaints: -Bed was very hard. Obviously this is a matter of personal preference, but for many Western/American guests it may feel unbearably hard. -Wifi was unusably unstable. Multiple pop-ups requiring a sign-in to network and occasionally very slow connection or none at all (e.g. 'connected without internet'). I had planned to take a work call while staying but had to pay to rent a nearby co-working space because the wifi was so unreliable. If those two points are not a concern for you, highly recommend this hotel based on all other aspects.

A few minutes walk away from Sannomiya station, right beside Daiso and a supermarket and literally a few steps away from a number of eateries -- good place to stay when in Kobe.

The hotel was really confortable, the service nice with us, we had amenities in our room, there is a huge chess on the terrasse which my husband and my daughter were playing and was fantastic.

This is the third time I have used this hotel as my stay has been very enjoyable before. Location very convenient. Staff polite and helpful. New check-in/check-out machines added since last time I was here, which are easy to use. Room spacious, bath big, desk, dresser, chair, fridge, etc etc all provided as expected. New addition is a free self-service coffee bar where you grind your own beans, and a self-service alcohol and soft drink bar at 600 yen per glass. These seemed gimmicky and the 600 yen alcohol option rather irrelevant as they also have a cheaper vending machine, not to mention the supermarket next door and the abundance of convenience stores and restaurants in the immediate area. Slightly disappointing that the breakfast now costs extra as it used to automatically be included for all guests; I used to enjoy the breakfast buffet. Also gone is the bag of towels and amenities which they used to hang at the door each day when you put up the "do not disturb" sign. Room info folder stated that this would be provided but it was not. Cleaning staff also a little annoying as they knocked on the door asking me when I would be leaving the room, but they managed to catch me as I was just coming out of the shower (embarrassing). Areas to watch would be the room items perhaps beginning to show wear and tear, and the bed is very hard, though the pillows are very nice. Nonetheless, overall I like this hotel as it provides a good guest experience. Recommended.

Near Sannomiya Station and bus terminal. Lots of eateries nearby. Staffs are helpful and courteous. Like the new (free) self-serve coffee bar at the lobby too.

Hotel location is near Sannomiya and Shin Kobe ( short taxi ride) . The hotel staff are helpful and kind. Buffet breakfast is very good - Japanese and Western food! Hotel room is comfortable and clean! Will definitely go back to Villa Fontaine!

Extremely annoying check in process. Around 4 staff at the reception but they force the guests to do their own check in on computer. I have no idea why companies like this think it’s a good idea to make the guest do their staff’s job for them while they stand around and do nothing. I used to stay here regularly but will not be back again as a result of this check in experience and they staff’s attitude towards me.

Suggestion to offer coffee and tea in rooms
No tea and no coffee is supplied at hotel rooms. Had to come down stair to make coffee. To make coffee, had to ground coffee first, and then make it, and then bring it up stair. It takes too much time. Moreover, coffee is served only from 12:00 pm. If anyone does not buy buy breakfast at the hotel, there is no coffee in the morning. Suggest to offer a coffee brewer and coffee bags in room. Suggest to offer Japanese tea bags in room.
