“Far but impressive......”
Nice getaway !
“Really, really great”
Just got back from a week with my wife and kids... 11 and 9 years old. Fantastic place. Kid (and non-kid) friendly. Nice little beach with a very nice long beach just on the other side of a small set of rocks. Villas were great. Very clean, Great service. Above average food. Great, friendly service and not forced. The grounds were spectacular. View from our place was stellar. It was just at the end of off season so they gave us two villas instead of one, kids got one of their own with it's own pool. I have nothing but great things to say. The road from the little village (if wind is blowing, the resort boat will not come around the island) is pretty bumpy and nasty (wouldn't want to do it in rainy season) but not horrible. Ok, worse than any road I hit in Tanzania but not horrible. Very low key. If you're looking for a big party, wrong place. At at the resort for a week, family of 4. Went on a couple excursions.. rode in and out on the speedboat. Drank.. spent less than 800 USD on all of this. Want to go back..
“Best Hotel Ever!”
We spent our honeymoon in a hideaway pool villa suite and it was absolutely amazing. It totally exceeded all our expectations. The facilities, restaurant, villa, service and staff were all first class. We will definitely be returning and will recommend to friends and family. Highlights were the private dinner on the beach, the Spa for two and the room itself. The staff were very friendly and often went above and beyond to help. Some recommendations would be to catch the speed boat from Koh Samui, it may seem expensive in Thai terms but it is worth the convenience and time saved. I would also recommend having some dinners or lunches on the next beach as well as massage. You can also book tours to the Marine Park in village on the next beach. The location and the resort was just simply the best ever!
“Hilly setting and inability to provide reservation requirements”
After many attempts to make a reservation through our international travel agent who was unable to get a response from Santhiya, we booked through Expedia as part of a wedding group. On arrival the resort provided accommodation at the extreme of the resort up a steep hill inaccessible by motorised cart requiring 125 steps at 45 degrees to exit the villa. The villa did not have the required bedding configuration and this was found to be non existent throughout the resort despite the reservation being accepted. The resort had made up a timber lounge with linen bedding (innappropriate for sleeping) to meet the reservation requirements. This is unacceptable business practice. Consequently we complained to management and was reallocated a villa with a second bedroom to overcome the single double bed in the previous villa which is the only bed configuration throughout the resort. Having arrived at the resort mid afternoon we did not gain access to our villa until 7.40pm after being offered a complimentary drink. After several schedule delays we had dinner whilst waiting for our room. The soft shell crab was mushy, not fresh and quite inedible which like so many other traveller's reviews. Thus we dined at the next beach as suggested. The positives were the breakfast on the terrace overlooking the water and the pool area as the beach is rocky and dirty with what appeared to be a sewerage outlet around the point.
“Exclusive - Great for Honeymoon or Couples Getaway”
Stayed here for 5 nights. Loved some aspects of it: Speedboat transfer from Samui all very romantic / Rooms gorgeous / convenient for restaurants on beach / gorgeous surroundings. Some aspects less appealing for us as we were a group of 3 rooms travelling together: Enormous grounds so getting around is very difficult / Rooms spread out / Pool access to the main inifinity pool very difficult as no steps so you have to climb over / under rocks to get into the pool. Would thoroughly recommend hotel for honeymooners (we had 3 different room types and the pool villas were gorgeous but not private and not a lot of outdoor space for us as a group / Deluxe Pool Access rooms lovely but a long way from the main building / pool / Supreme Room lovely), as it is remote, romantic and special. PS Full Moon Party right on other side of island so this is good if you want to keep away from the Full Moon, or not so good if you want to attend the party, although the hotel offers transfers to and from.
“Great!”
Wonderfull service! Recomended a 100%.
“WOW... Heaven on earth”
Amazing! Just book it. We had the hideaway pool villa heaven on earth. So friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Just don't take the ferry across we got drenched and almost had our passports and cameras etc ruined by the water spray also not very safe too many people! Take the speed boat
“DIsappointing Stay”
When we arrived at Koh Samui we were picked up and brought to the dock. We were told that we just missed the resort's speed boat by 20 minutes and even though we informed them of our delay we would have to wait for the next boat FOUR HOURS LATER. When it came time for that boat to leave we were informed we had to wait another 45 minutes for a couple who was delayed. Why they could hold the boat for them and not for us I'm not sure but we missed out on an entire day of our honeymoon because of this. Then came the speedboat ride. We were supposed to be taken directly to the resort's dock, instead we were taken to the other side of Koh Phangan to a DISGUSTING dock that smelled of rotting fish and was filthy. We were loaded into a truck and driven over some of the most dangerous roads I have ever been on. They were covered in mud and the truck was constantly sliding off of the road and could barely make it over some hills. When we checked-in we were not allowed to make any changes to our stay, we were informed by expedia that we could check out early and be refunded the money for the 2 nights but the staff refused and we lost out on those two nights. The food at the resort was just ok and the staff although nice just didn't seem to care about requests or concerns. Our room, although very nice was so hot and the beds were very uncomfortable. That being said the spa was incredible and the Thai cooking class we took was a lot of fun. Skip this resort and stay at Rasananda.
“cant wait to go back”
in one word paradise on earth

Ko Phangan, Thailand: This mountainous fishing island to the north of Ko Samui is, for much of the year, a quiet place to really get away from it all, although things do liven up every 30 days for the islands monthly Full Moon Party. Hilltop Wat Khao Tham hosts 10-day Buddhist meditation retreats, and the islands snorkeling is among Thailands best. You can only get here by boat; ferries run regularly to Ko Samui, Ko Tao, and Surat.
