I couldn't believe that for less than the price of a hotel room I ended up with a whole small flat to myself for a long weekend. A living room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom! Spacious and clean too. One night, sitting on the sofa, I felt a little chill and thought a jumper would be nice - just then I looked over to the other armchair and saw they'd left a blanket on it - perfect.
The only wrinkle was that I was on the second floor and therefore very much within reach of the sound of the live music that was being played late into the night (1 or 2 am on Friday and Saturday) in one of the restaurants below. In the morning, I then got to hear all the clanking of the cleaners in the utility room that was just below my flat. Still, I was able to roll over and doze off again, so this inconvenience was outweighed by the good aspects of this accommodation!
We had a great time in Dresden. Not many Australians seem to visit Dresden and they are really missing out. This is a historically resilient city bursting with culture. You only need a few days here but well worth it. Swissotel is beautiful and central to all you want to see. Lovely restaurants nearby. The Spa has a beautiful sauna area downstairs that is a must.

We travelled by motor bike and we were welcomed warmly by the hotel staff who were very helpful. Staff were polite and friendly and offered us the option of parking the bike on the hotel front. The hotel was clean and the rooms were well furnished and very comfortable.
This is an outstanding hotel. I travel 150k miles/year on business and never bother to respond to review requests. In this case I'll make an exception. You cannot beat the location, and they get all of the details right. Highly recommended.
Stayed in a hotel in Berlin the next night which cost twice as much as was not even half as good.
"Spotless hotel right in the heart of the old town"
Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, beautiful room and hotel is in the heart of the old town and within walking distance of all the main sights. Right next door to the Altmarkt and Kreuzkirche. Breakfast at the hotel is expensive at 20 Eouro per person but there's a bakery just outside the hotel that serves a ver generous breakfast for two for €8.50
