Mediocre Hotel to say the least

Posted 28-Jul-2015
Pros: price, close to airport
Cons: Rooms are dated even the newly renovated ones, cable tv which was connected through wifi was horrible hardly ever worked, Wifi was terrible as well
Room was fairly clean, Hotel frontdesk and many staff members working on the premises were not helpful nor friendly, However the security guard monitering the premises at night was outstanding

Pleasant Stay

Posted 27-Jul-2015
I enjoyed myself here at the Grand Port Royal Hotel. The staff was very nice. The lobby was always quiet. Do make sure to bring bug spray with you because there were mosquitoes that got into my room. The complimentary breakfast was not all that great. The table and chairs outside for dining are old I barely wanted to sit and eat. They could use more staff on site for the complimentary breakfast serving. It is not a self-serve facility and we had to wait a while for service due to low staffing. There are plenty of flies outside while dining due to the area being so close to the water. Overall, we had a good time. The television barely shows good channels. However, thank GOD for the free Wi-Fi. If you do not have a rental car it is fairly easy to get to and from the airport using the public transportation that stops right in front of the hotel and goes directly to the airport. I would go back but I won't eat the complimentary breakfast.

This Hotel Needs Work.

Posted 19-Jul-2015
Pros: It is by the sea. Friendly and courteous staff.
Cons: Service needs improvement. The room I stayed in needs work, like a curtain over the bathroom window. Hint room 1*5
Location: There are restaurants in Port Royal. If you are driving then you are not far from Kingston and St. Andrews.
I was visiting on business; as a result, I spent very little time in the hotel. I was there mostly in the evening to continue working and of course to sleep. Therefore, internet service was very important. There was no service upon my arrival until the next day, so there was no wireless connection available. Their portable modem was not working but one could connect in the vicinity of the front desk. The bar and dinner staff are OK; however, very inexperienced. The housekeeping staff are very, very inexperienced to the point where basic items (such as toilet paper, shampoo and comforter) were not provided. They lack good supervision. The property, is nice and clean; however, there is a lot of work that still needs to be done with the rooms and fixtures. At the moment it is like staying in a seedy motel.

Sleepy place in the middle of nowhere

Posted 19-Jul-2015
Pros: View, pool, outdoor area.
Cons: Extremely expensive airport shuttle. The restaurant is quite limited and there's not really all that much to drink in the bar either. No red wine.
Location: There's a fort and a modest village.
Not much going on at the Port Royal, but the views of the harbour from the bar area is quite nice. It's so close to the airport (a short bus ride away) that it's worth considering if you have an early flight.

July vacation

My stay at Port Royal was great. I really enjoyed the peace and quietness that the hotel has. All the staffs were very polite and attentive. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Not the best hotel, but convenient

Posted 15-Jul-2015
This hotel is by far not the best hotel. It's located conveniently near the airport and it has a great view over looking the marina. However the rooms are very basic and not the best decor. Great for a quick layover.

Nice hotel close to the airport

Posted 10-Jul-2015
Pros: staff and dinner.
Cons: Rooms could be a little cleaner and bathroom could use some work.
We stayed here because it was close to the hotel. It was fairly clean and the room was good for our short stay. I would not stay for an extended period of time, but for a few nights it is a good hotel. Dinner was very good and the staff was very friendly.

Needs Improvement

Posted 14-Jun-2015
Pros: I liked that the room was clean and the ac works. There was also hot water in the shower. The pancakes was good for my daughter.
Cons: The service, cleaning the pool, making the lobby more appealing. Renovate the whole building, is has a lot of potential to do good business.
We were not told that we need to leave the key at the front desk to get the room cleaned. The toilet seat kept falling on our backs. Every night we had to ask for three sets of towels because there was three of us in the room.
