“Very good value”

The Rus is located a bit distant (20-25 minute walk) from central locations like the Opera. But if you master the Metro it's quite convenient, with the Sports Palace station 5 minutes walk. It's true the hotel is "on a hill" but the amount of uphill in this hike is no problem. Room was small but spotless; breakfast large and varied; concierges helpful. It is very much worth the money and comparable in quality for what you would get for the same price other places in Europe. I think I enjoyed a weekend rate, so maybe it's a less good buy during the work week. My only complaint would be that the taxi desk placed in the lobby for the convenience of guests definitely provides the "tourist rates." But I find it hard to begrudge a 2-tiered price system for tourist amenities in a country like Ukraine, even as I pay it.

“Russ Kiev Alright”

Alright hotel with fair service. Good breakfast buffet. Problems with ATM machines in the hotel. Had a credit card taken by a ATM machine in the hotel without cause (becareful). Very expensive laundry. Bartenders short pour beer.

“Best Breakfast Buffet”

I stayed at this hotel twice. And I am very satisfied with the service and facilities. I love the Breakfast buffet. I have stayed at other hotels in the Ukraine and I am happy to say this hotel offers the best breakfast buffet. The hotel offers a variety of food hot and cold. The buffet has great selection of cheese, fruits. salads, and meats. I always look forward to the breakfast brunch when waking up in the morning. The hotel room is clean and comfy. I glad the wi-fi internet service is excellent. The speed is quite high.

Area recommendations
The Independence Square is a great place to visit. You have to walk about 15 to 20 minutes to get there. But walking there instead of taking a taxi cab is worth it. The city is bustling and alive with people walking through the streets. If you are into salsa or Latin dancing I recommend the Club Caribbean and there is free salsa dancing at the parks. One is on Friday 7pm at Marenski (spelling of the name may not be accurate but sounds like it) park near the Friendship arch and on Saturday 7pm Serchenko park near the Red University.

“BEST BREAKFAST!”

OUTSTANDING BRUNCH BREAKFAST INCLUDED! Highlight of our one night stay, they only provided bathroom towels for one person, room and bath very small, we requested a view, we had one of a large construction site.

“BEWARE”

Whilst I found the hotel to be satisfactory, my experience on the final day of my visit is something that I wish my fellow travellers to be aware of. Doorstaff called for an official hotel taxi to take my girlfriend and I to the train station. Once we arrived at the train station, the driver demanded more than 4 times the normal fare (I've done this journey several times using local taxis). I explained that this was unacceptable and asked for a receipt so that I could take the matter up with the hotel management. At this point we were threatened. My girlfriend was now highly distressed, I paid the fee. I called the hotel to complain, their attitude was one of, who cares.

Area recommendations
The monument to the victims of the 1932-33 famine is particulary moving.

“Great choice for a visit to Kiev”

Hotel Rus is centrally located in Kiev, within 5mins walk of Palace Sportu underground station and walking distance to the main shopping street as well as many of Kiev's sights. Staff are friendly and speak English (don't take this for granted in Ukraine). The hotel is clean and well maintained and the breakfast buffet (included in the price) is extensive and of a good quality.

Area recommendations
Most of the places worth a visit are located quite centrally. The underground system isn't easy to use (especially if you don't read/speak Russian/Ukrainian), but it is very cheap, efficient and you do get used to it.

“Nice for short stay”

Located close to downtown and airport. Good all around service. Quiet. Strange, though, no room service menu in my room...was told to go to the 2nd floor?? Room is rather small but ok for short stay.R

“internet connection problems”

I had a lot of internet connections problem, it was annoying taking into account the fact that I wasn't on vacation, it was a business trip.
