“Will be going back soon.”
The hotel staff will go out of their way to help you at all times. I had a great stay at this hotel and I will stay their again.
“Good as always”
I was staying in Slavutich for the second time. This time I was able to see Pecherska Lavra and Rodina Mat' from my room's balcony, it was cool. The price was little higher than in winter but it was probably seasonal thing.
“The worst hotel I have ever stayed at.”
Internet only worked in the lobby, you paid for it there. Room was hot in the day and cold at night. nowhere to eat in the area, had to take a cab to get anywhere. Staff was undfriendly. NO hot water, Nothing to see or do in the area, refegeator smelled of dead rotted meat, bed was very small.
“Tiny rooms, even tinier beds, Soviet Union is back!!!!”
After reading the hotel reviews, I decided it would be an OK hotel to stay for one night in Kiev before flying back to New York. Anyway we didn't plan to spend any time there more than required for sleep. I felt like I was taken twenty or thirty years back to USSR. The room was so small and the beds were tiny. The bathroom was extremely small and not really comfortable with a sit in bath . It was pretty cold in the room ( I was there in April), the TV was the size of a laptop screen, you get the picture. But I have to say there were no roaches or anything of the kind. Private apartments is the best choice for the same price, next time I'll know better. However I would definitely recommend Slavutich for Americans who want to experience the flavor of the Soviet Union hotels:))))
“Budget Soviet Style Hotel”
If you want to travel 30 years back in time this is the hotel for you. If you always wanted to feel like being back to the Soviet Union, and to live like Soviet people used to live it was the right place to feel that. Everything in Slavutich Hotel reminded me about the past, the furniture in the room, the bathroom with an old Soviet-style shower, even the windows with the paper glued on the sides to block the cold coming from the outside, the same thing Soviet people used to do at their apartments, etc. I personally enjoyed being there besides it was the best deal in Kiev. The hotel was strategically located just 10 minutes walking distance from the subway system or 4 bus stops. I did not even use a taxi to get there. So I saved even more bucks on transportation. The reception people were nice and helpful. I liked everything.
“DO NOT STAY HERE!”
My room was filled with cigarette smoke from adjoing areas, though the hotel claims to be smoke free. All my clothes and luggage ended up with a strong smoke stench. About half the nights, there was a distinct music beat, making it impossible to sleep up until 6 am. The staff will try to nickel and dime you every chance. I.E.: Waitress poured 4 times the amount of wine listed on the menu for a glass, thus charged 4 times the menu price. Why should the customer be responsible for overpouring? A large bottle of water at the bar was marked up 6 times more than at a store, international calling was obscenely over-priced. I was overcharged so much for internet use, I ended up timing myself on my digital watch for proof. Restaurant was very subpar. Food at nearby places was much better. I bought most of my food at a nearby store that had an excellent deli section. Restaurant was closed 3 seperate times for unknown reasons. Had one good breakfast buffet, then the next day they only had half as many items. On this day they forgot to add olive oil to the cole slaw, thus serving raw cabbage strands as cole slaw. Yuck! When I brought some of these problems to the attention of the GM, he replied: "Why should I believe you?" Because of the smoke, noise, constant overcharging, poor restaurant, and manager insensitivity, it would be crazy to stay here again. The price was very good upon booking, but if you can't sleep, breathe, and relax, whats the point?
“One bad apple”
The Bartender in the Lounge black short hair average build with a bad additude because he pulls 24 hr shifts need to be fired .He gives the Hotel a bad Name
“Will be back soon”
I have little to say other than we had a great time. The coffee availability could be better. But I like coffee and a lot of it in the morning and do not want to pay much for it.
“I would go back”
This hotel needs to look at it's breakfast menu, for my taste I would have liked a western european menu.
“Soviet-Style Hotel on Other Bank of Kiev”
This is an old Soviet-style hotel on the other side of the river Dnieper from the main section of Kiev. I thought that it would be fine to stay at because it was cheap and close to the river and public transport. It was not. Although I thoroughly enjoyed being able to run along the river in the mornings after being caged inside of gyms in Moscow, I was not happy with how far public transport was from the hotel. Furthermore, for the amount of money I paid to take taxis after the metro closed or to far away destinations in Kiev, I could've stayed at a better hotel or hostel in the center of the city. If one is searching for a real Soviet-style hotel and a quiet neighborhood away from the sights and sounds of Kiev, this is the place to stay. If, however, you are looking to do some real touring and enjoy historical Kiev, you are on the wrong side of the river.
