“Extremely old, great location”
Great location, but extremely old (their bathrooms are horrible). I couldn't take a shower as the taps didn't work. They didn't offer another room, offered a repaiman instead. The bathtub was pre-historic, the beds were so narrow that my skinny dad fell off of the bed while trying to change his position. The beds were so close to each other that I was literally sleeping nose to nose to my dad. Don't buy breakfast there as it is a rip off. The food was cold and seemed like a leftover from the breakfast a few days before. My dad couldn't walk there as he is a disabled and they don't provide any accomodation for people like him (the restaurant is two flights of steps downstairs, going down there is not for disabled)). When I wanted to get some food-to-go for him (I did buy their breakfast, poor me!), they didn't allow it until I had a talk with their supervisor. Next time I go there I am going to spend extra 20 dollars and stay at Rus hotel a block away from Khreschatik hotel, the same great location but a newer building. BTW they have Internet in every room, but you have to call their administrator for the password as it is not mentioned anywhere. Anyway, I would not recommend to stay at the hotel even though the location is a great plus.
“Beware of what they give you”
Hotel appeared nice in the lobby; the standard room with double-bed was 1-star at most. The furniture was stained plywood, the bed was awful and made me question how sanitary it was. I was on a higher floor, 7?, where they were performing renovations. Obviously my room was pre-renovation. I did not find out until the morning that the water was brown & thus I did not shower....the shower spout also broke at the threads; once water was turned on the spout was leaking/spraying and upon touching it, it simply fell into the tub. The renovated rooms looks nice but beware and be cautious about what they are giving you!! Lviv on the other hand was supremely better for only $20 more
“A very convenient located Hotel”
This hotel is a three star hotel in the middle of Kiev city and in Independence Square. In terms of value for money, this hotel is fantastically located and in terms of convenience, the hotel is very well placed. The staff speak good English and were friendly. Only a couple of downsides - the internet connection, although free, works poorly and the breakfast is somewhat boring Overall, very good value for money for Kiev - have stayed there twice now and will be staying there again, each time I go to Kiev
“Excellent location”
I read some reviews before deciding on this hotel. For the price and the location I think this was the best for my money. Understand that this has rooms that were from the Soviet era and the bed was firm but I really preferred this for the experience. After all I came to Kyiv for history, architecture and culture, not staying in my hotel room. My time was spent seeing the city and some of the best sites were a very short walk from the front door. Some of the reviews I noticed had claims of a lack of luxury. There are other places to stay if you don't like it but location, convenience and price are not the same. My room was very clean and the maid service was very good and accommodated my requests. Everyone I spoke to about sight seeing were very helpful in getting me from the hotel to the location. I spent a week here and would definitely stay again. Returning next year for Kyiv's 20th Year of Independence celebration is high on my list of things to do. The festivities will be centered 30 seconds from the front door! Whether you are here for a night or two on business or staying for a week to experience this wonderful historic city, I recommend this hotel for anyone on a budget. I would also add the Ukrainian and Japanese restaurants downstairs from within the lobby serve excellent food. There are many places to eat within 10 minutes though. A side note, the bank a few doors down offered the best exchange rates and the restaurants don't take US currency.
“First time in Eastern Europe”
The hotel staff was very professional and customer-oriented. None of the "Soviet style" service. The descriptions of previous travelers about the hotel lobby being really nice in comparison to the rooms is partly true. The rooms are nothing special (layout, older furniture/bathroom/amenities) but clean enough. Location is perfect and central: Khreschatik street is one of the main streets. Going to restaurants, bars, nightspots is walking distance or short taxi ride (it did help that I also had a local showing me around I have to admit). Overall impression is that at a reasonable cost the hotel is not bad, but is definitely not high-end.
“Decent hotel but should keep air conditioner in working order”
Decent hotel in prime location right on Khreshchatic. Good service, responsive staff, clean but you should check if air conditioner is working in your room before getting in.
“Good location”
Everythig was ok. The price was not cheap, but on that weekend everything else was even more expensive, so we selected this hotel. Internet and fridge in the room were good to have. Breakfast was very good. Location is the best in Kiev. We missed a free parking for our car; the hotel should be generous enough to provide that service, but it doesn't.
“Basic hotel is a good location”
If you need an OK place to stay in central Kiev, this one is a good choice. It is a refurbished soviet style hotel. Lobby looks nice, but the rooms are pretty basic and feel dated. Service was OK but I was not there long enough to judge.
“Kiev hotel”
Overall not a bad hotel. Lobby is sharp and the staff was helpful. Just too many smokers all over the hotel, including those who work there.
“Hotel Kreschathik, posizione centralissima”
