“Good hotel, Great bar!”
The room was like any other hotel room. Nothing too exciting. Clean, comfy, nice. However, the bar downstairs was awesome! The locals in it were friendly and kept bursting into song. We ventured down there to get wifi, and we stayed to drink and sing along.
“A Real Ireland Experience-Amazing!”
Hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating! Restaurant was delicious! Live music in lounge. Overall a wonderful experience, wish we could have had our whole stay here!! Highly recommend. Very child friendly, we plan on returning there with our children.
“Not a luxury stay yet very reasonable and comfortable”
Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Hotel is due for some remodling, but overall a great deal, Hotel Bar was a locals pub giving it a great Irish cultural experience. Staff was very warm and friendly, I would stay ther again!
“Authentic Atmosphere and Traditional Pub are the Heart of this Hotel”
We started our vacation in Killarney, where we stayed at Darby O'Gills for three days. It was a great choice for touring the Ring of Kerry, the Gap of Dunloe, the Muckross House, and Aghadoe Heights and the Lakes of Killarney. Rather than being cooped up in our room when not touring, we enjoyed being downstairs, where the wood panelled pub is a welcoming. This feature made Darby O'Gill's a favorite for us. This gathering place at the heart of Darby O'Gill's gave us a chance to mingle with locals even while we were resting and recharging. We were even able to check e-mail and plan the next day's travels in the pub. Texting and calling from your American mobile phone can be pricey, so e-mail was our mode of communication with those at home. If we'd been stuck in a hotel room during e-mail time, it would have interrupted the vacation. The pub was like a community living room at Darby O'Gill's, so e-mail time was still Irish vacation time.
“Ireland Fun”
The location is great, the hotel is not. The staff is wonderful, the beds horrible. This hotel is very very loud if you get stuck anywhere near the bar like we did. The music was seriously pumping till almost 2am. The beds had dips in them and were equivalent to sleeping on thick cardboard. That being said, the staff was nice and the bar is worth a hangout. The place is located outside the city but no issue if you have a car. Overall if we had gotten one of the rooms away from the noise I might have recommended this hotel but given the noise till 2am after a long day I wouldn't stay here again.
“Cute and convenient”
We found Darby OGills to be very convenient for getting around Killarney and the west coast. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The food was really good and we enjoyed our breakfasts. On our next trip to Ireland we will stay here again. Our Thanks to the staff at Darby OGills for making our stay memorable.
“Friendly, homely and good value.”
The hotel was just what we needed. The photo's showed exactly what we got. Nice friendly staff, good food and the owner was very amiable and spoke to guests like long lost friends. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent base to visit the surrounding areas. Killarney has a good shopping centre with horse drawn carriages. Tralee is close by and has a good swimming pool with slides for the young ones and saunas and a steam room for oldies. Dingle is another must, you get the chance to swim with the dolphins, although you have to get there early to do this.
“Excellent hotel and friendly service.”
Excellent hotel and friendly service.
“A few miles from town center”
Not a bad hotel. It is clean, quiet and comfortable. I had trouble with the lock on my door and trying to dial out on the phone, but the woman at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Be aware there is a hairdryer and tea maker in the room but no clock! Make sure you bring one with you. Also, a great place to stay if traveling by car, but if you have to wait for a taxi back and forth it is a little annoying. Better to just find a place in town and walk.
“Wonderful”
No complaints.
