Nice hotel but the restaurant was terrible

Posted 23-Feb-2015
The stay was lovely nice room smelt really musky when I first walked in the room though. Everything else with the hotel was good apart from the resurtant. The service was very slow and they was not even busy. We asked for a bottle of proseco and got something completely different. We asked for skinny fries with our meal and they gave us chunky chips instead without asking if it was ok. We made a complaint and so did all the other tables. I would stay at the hotel again but I won't be visiting the restaurant the food is too over priced for the food you receive.

Medico hotel, Restricted pool use for children

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Not much
Cons: Pool acorrosion coating breaking down. Restaurant time delays unacceptable . Room temperature control
Location: Chatham Dockyard
Hotel about 20 years old looking a bit tired. Not upto other Village hotels we have stayed in. Room temperature poorly controlled requiring a fan to cool room in the middle of winter (more of Travel Lodge standard. Pool use restricted to children from 9 to 12 and 2 to 5 but no notification prior to check in. Restaurant quite expensive and waitress did not make it clear that special wasn't in the meal deal. Lam chops not a success as more fat than meat. Kept waiting for both courses especially the sweet course. Meal for 3 took over 150 min. Lost ticket in the kitchen for sweet course. Next morning received a 0700 wake up call that was not requested and was informed they would remove it. At 0715 wake up call repeated just as we had got back to sleep. Discussed with reception on check out and £25 reduction made on £200 bill. Unlikely to use again.

Avoid if possible

Posted 12-Feb-2015
This was once a pretty good hotel, with decent enough rooms, a reasonable, if slightly tacky bar, and a good gym. Unfortunately, all of the above have gone downhill noticeably in the last year or so. Decor and bedrooms are looking very dated and don't feel comfortable, with bathrooms really in need of attention. The bath panel was actually hanging off and everything felt a bit grubby. The TV only worked on a few channels and switched itself off every half an hour. Strips of black tape appear on the carpets throughout the stairs and corridors where they have worn. The bar was very hot and most of the draught beers were off, whilst the gym was also far too warm, with equipment in need of maintenance. Suffice to say, I will be looking elsewhere in future, as it's so overpriced. Not worthy of a 2 star hotel rating.

Urban Village

Posted 28-Jan-2015 on Hotels.com
I stayed recently at the Urban Village for 2 days for a business trip. The room was comfortable and the bed was extremly comfortable. The bathroom was good although a lack of heat no heated towel rail or heating made my shower on arrival a bit chilly. My biggest concern was the fact that my room door was left open by the cleaners so when i arrived back in the evening my room door had been left open all day and as i had left a laptop ipad etc in the room this was a big concern. I did report this but staff didnt really seem that concerned as to what might have happened.

Definately not a flagship branch

After Nottingham easily the 2nd worst Village Hotel I have stayed in (and I have stayed in most). Room was freezing, Restaurant was booked out to a function, without prior notice, so had to pay £16 return taxi into town or eat in the loud , noisty and overfull pub. This was not a pleasant experience. I booked upper deck at £99 - there was nothing at all upper about the room. Bose sound dock was on the blink, pinchable toileteries (had already been pinched before we got there), room stat showed 16C - with an electyric radiator , which switched off when the room was vacated (card removed from slot).will i be returnign here? - not a chance
