Slightly disappointed

Posted 28-Jul-2015
Pros: Vicinity to Mote Park and the motorway. Good parking facilities.
Cons: The reception staff didn't seem to know much about the local area, i.e. buses, etc,. Not as helpful as they could have been.
We booked this hotel as it was close to Mote Park for the festival we were attending. We didn't use many of the facilities but there is a gym, bar and restaurant. However, for the price we paid for the Saturday night we expected a little more - this hotel is very similar to the standard of a Premier Inn. Basic toiletries - very disappointing.

ideal location for site seeing in kent

Posted 13-Jul-2015
Pros: great that there was good size pool that we used at the end of the day.
Location: Visit Rochester and walk around the towns historic sites and browse in the idividual shops in the high street. Historic dockyards are a must.
ideal location for site seeing in kent as can get to places easily as the hotel is just off the motorway. Room size good but can become very hot in warm weather - thank goodness they provide a fan.

Very poor for a village hotel

Posted 02-Jul-2015
This hotel is in dire need of renovation. Black sticky tape is used to join carpet together in corridors, rooms look tired and severely lacking TLC. One of my biggest disappointments was the breakfast. The scrambled egg was dark grey/black in places and solid in texture the rest of the food seemed to have left out for a while as it was awful. I stuck with the fruit in the end. The service by the reception staff was poor from the word go. The only saving grace was the bar staff, three girls who were very good and attentive to the customers. All in all i have to visit this area on business quite a lot going forward and i will not be staying at The Village hotel, Maidstone again

Cons: Speed of service at reception and a smile would have been nice.
Location: Convenient for actress off motorway but a taxi ride away from station and city centre
Hotel was convenient for one night stay. I also have to complement the hotel on phoning guests to advise that they had a problem with the TV system. But I found the service at reception a bit slow with staff wondering around not offering to serve the growing queue. Also vacuuming the stairs is not a good thing when guests are going up and down to breakfast. Cables could easily be tripped over

The rooms are very tired and need to be refurbished. The main reason I have booked this hotel previously is the Health club, the hotel are now charging £5.00 to use this facility if you haven't booked direct with the hotel.

Lovely hotel with a great gym

Posted 28-Apr-2015 on Hotels
Had a lovely stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. Room was pretty standard fare for this type of hotel, nothing outstanding but comfortable and was just what we needed. Really impressed with the gym. A few of the machines were a little tired and needing refreshment but there was a great range of equipment that made my fitness-mad friend very happy.

nice gym shame about the food

Posted 26-Apr-2015 on Hotels
I've been staying in this hotel for a while now. Every room I've stayed in has a problem with leaking shower screens. The new menu in the bar area has very limited choice and poor quality . Definitely don't have the Chicken Tikka Masala as there is very little chicken in it! On this latest stay, we had to send back our sirloin steaks in the restaurant as they were absolutely rank, they are looking into it ! The beds are comfortable, staff generally friendly and the gym is well equipped but busy with locals as well as hotel guests. The gym is probably the only reason why I stay here whilst on business.
