A good place to stay & explore Canterbury

Posted 23-May-2014
Pros: Good location.
Cons: Access from the main road is tricky, & could be better marked.
Location: Canterbury!
The Victoria hotel is an easy 15 minute walk from the historic Canterbury town center. Comfortable rooms, pleasant, helpful staff, and a good restaurant on premises.

Not bad for the price

Posted 14-Apr-2014
Not bad considering how pricey hotels in this area can be. Breakfast was quite overpriced, so we did not eat it at the hotel, it is a shame it wasn't more discounted for people staying there. The walk into the city was about 10-15 mins which was fine for us, although might be offputting for some people. The room was quite hot (I think we were above the kitchen) which wasn't ideal as the air-con wasn't great. Overall, the hotel is ok for the price you pay, it was clean and the facilities were ok. If I visit Canterbury again I would be tempted to pay a little bit more to stay somewhere in a more central location with breakfast included

Three days at the Victoria Hotel

Posted 11-Apr-2014
We picked this hotel randomly as a base for visiting Dover Castle and the sites of Canterbury. Our choice could not have been better: not too close to the City but within easy walking distance (therefore quiet) and ample car parking. Food was very good and the staff were very attentive.

Great overnight stop before ferry from Dover

Posted 10-Apr-2014
Pros: Big room, with double and two single beds, plenty of room
We arrived very late, checked in and had breakfast before we left for the ferry, did not see anything around the hotel though!

Nice hotel but single rooms were disappointing.

Posted 30-Mar-2014
Pros: Friendly staff, good location, lovely entrance and exterior.
Cons: Size of single room need to be a lot bigger and bathrooms need to be sorted also. Food needs to be improved on.
Location: Good location on London road into Canterbury, with about 20 mins walk to centre of town. Easy to find right beside roundabout.
Lovely hotel from outside and lovely entrance. However, our single rooms were very small and bathrooms were tiny. Shower door would not close. Beds were comfortable, room was nice and warm and staff were friendly. Dinner was also disappointing. Breakfast was ok.

Pros: Staff and the bed
Cons: See 'write about your experience'
Location: Great location, its Canterbury great shopping, resturants and places to visit, my all time favorite town
Room (bathroom) could have been cleaner. Bath plug was way too small so water ran out. Bed was great. A TV/channel guide in the hotel information book would have been very helpful. Hotel needs referbishment it's in a great location and is essentially a good building(s) but the decor is very dated. Some serious reinvestment would see this hotel go from strength to strength. Provide a covered smoking area for guests as we did not appreciate being woken in the night because of a false alarm caused by smoke getting into the back porch area. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would use again if the price was right but not for a really special occasion as it is.
