Classic Victorian B & B

Posted 21-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
This is a classic Victorian house full of eclectic furnishings, and with a sunny tearoom and expansive grounds. Worth the stay in itself but even more so because of the host/owner himself, Tom; very hospitable and a great personality. Dover was so interesting with the best castle and the spectacular "White Cliffs". Would definitely visit again and stay at Salisbury House.

Quirky bed and breakfast in a convenient location

Posted 10-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
The bed and breakfast was in a convenient location for catching the Dover - Calais ferry first thing in the morning. The hotel had lots of charm and character and had a family feel. The owner was friendly and helpful, although his wife didn't make much conversation. As we were leaving before breakfast in the morning, the owner offered to make us a bag of some food to take with us, which was a nice gesture. The bag consisted of croissants and bread rolls (no butter or jam, that was all). Apart from this, we found the bed and breakfast pleasant and handy for a 10 minute drive to the port the following morning. We also found some nice places to eat in Dover, although it seems a very depressing and run down town. We would stay here again, but not visit Dover unless it's a stopping call for catching the ferry.

We had a very nice stay at the Salisbury Hotel, the family who run it are very hospitable and make you feel very welcome. They provide good service and the breakfasts are lovely.
