“Cheap Budget Hotel”
Hotel good value for money but the decor is a bit tired. The staff are very helpful It is an ideal stopping off point for an overnight stay before catching the ferry.
“Great Value”
I had a room on the 5th floor with a fabulous view of the harbour and the sea beyond. The room was clean, well equipped and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was included and also dinner buffet although this was not publicised at the time of booking! The only complaint regards the rather ancient and over-used lifts which were unreliable and unpredictable! It was usually quicker to climb the 5 flights of stairs.
“CLEAN & FRIENDLY HOTEL”
CLEAN & FRIENDLY HOTEL - EASY TO FIND IF YOU HEAD FOR HARBOUR - SURROUNDING AREA IS A BIT RUN DOWN - BUT IDEAL SITUATION FOR VISITING FRANCE & ALSO LOCATIONS IN KENT - THE VICTORIA DINING ROOM IS WELL WORTH THE LITTLE EXTRA - WILL STAY AGAIN
“Beware Disgusting Smelly Outdated Health Hazard”
We checked in 01/09/11. We found parking for disabled people difficult and no help was offered by the staff. At the entrance of the hotel lot of people standing smoking and drinking and the lobby was strong smell of booze. Upon arrival in the room the room had a stale smell. The toilet seat in the room was loose. We informed the staff but nothing was done. The bed was not comfortable we tossed and turned all night. For breakfast not much choice for vegetarians. We checked out early to catch our ferry to Dunkirk. Later on in the day my Wife started complaining about itchiness and her legs and arms were showing red patches. WE went to the chemist in Bruges and were informed she might be suffering from bed bugs. During our stay in Belgium and Amsterdam my wife was suffering quiet a lot with itchiness and upon arrival back to U.K. I have to take her to hospital. We explain to the doctor how we have been travelling and when this started. He confirmed she has been suffering from bed bugs and gave her antibiotic cream to apply and antihistamine Make sure you have bed bug repellent with you
“wont be going back”
not a very nice hotel. shame as looks great when you turn up but rooms let it right down. nothing much going on by hotel you will have to travel to high street for meals out ! breakfast was about the best thing lots of your typical full english loads of it..
“"it`s a hotel Jim, but not as we know it"”
stayed for one night in July to see the open golf. Two star hotel, perfectly adequate for a quick stop overnight. You get what you pay for!! Double room B & B Cheap
“Basic, tired but ok.”
Stayed over before ferry from Dover. Hotel ok furnishings very tired and hotel quite shabby, but for the price we paid for bed and breakfast it was adequate. Would use this hotel again at the same price.
“not good for the food”
The Hotel was very nice, but it was a shame that the food served was just inedible, there are two areas in the hotel serving food ane we tried them both, belevie me we soon found somewere in the town to eat. as for the entertainment, this all aimed at anyone over the age of 80 years old. though there are places in the town that do good music. so it was good as a base to adventure out of. Lastly parking is limited compaired to the number of rooms.
“Hotel that needs re-doing”
I was happy to pay for a cheap hotel and i got that & less. I thought bed sheets were very clean but table was dusty, the air in the corridor Musty, and Musty smell in the room, very basic i needed to air out the room i couldnt sleep in comfort beacuse of the stench. Breakfast was very low quality food but they had the works which gave everyone a good selection to choose from but quality of the food very low. Also i loved the idea as you step in or out they had anti-bacterial hand gel to apply so you keep hands clean. But i think the place needs moderninsing done to it. Its no Travel lodge or Premiere inn very basic and needs refurbishing. The surrounding was dead nothing to do, shops everything run down but never went for the surrounding just needed a hotel that was close by. Over-all if you dont mind just wanting to sleep on a clean bed and nothing else required then go for it!
“Good value!”
We have been to the Burstin before, as a group, on a friend's recommendation. This time we went as a couple . We are middle-aged, but saw people of all ages stay at this hotel, but it leans towards older clientele. It's pretty basic, but clean, and really good value for money. Breakfast is included, and is palatable. There is entertainment thrown in, and it is central to pubs, shopping etc in Folkestone. Overall, I'd recommend the Burstin to anyone who expects what they pay for .. they will be pleasantly surprised!
