Fantastic, made our short stay even better!

Posted 27-May-2014
When we arrived we received a very warm welcome after a very long journey on the motorbike, we were tired and wet through. We were taken very quickly to the garage where we were able to park the bike securely, we were given a key on our room key ring and taken to our room . I must say, if you can't do stairs, thus may not be ideal, but fir us it was perfect as we got our cardio in while we were there. We had booked the feet top room, which was comfy, with a very welcomed hot shower! Another thing to note us that we didn't gave control over the radiator, which would gave been handy as we had bike gear to dry off, it certainly wasn't a deal breaker though. Other facilities were in walking distance, we had a lovely meal at Dino's Italian ( 5 min walk) a drink in the white hourse (1min walk) then got our heads down. Breakfast... Epic! Amazing! Full vegetarian option as well as the regular full English, cereal, juice, toast pot of tea!! Set us up for the day at Dover castle (5 mins away-up a very steep hill and stairs) For tea we walked along the marina and got fish a chips. Very lovely stay, perfect for our requirements! Fully recommended especially if you're visiting the castle!

Convenient location

Pros: It was very comfortable and friendly for our short stay.
Location: It was in walking distance to Dover Castle which was really interesting with its medieval buildings and the World War II underground tunnel displays.
The accommodation was conveniently located close to the shops and walking distance to the sea and the Castle.

Great place to stay

We stayed here one night. The room was great for 2 adults and 2 kids (both under 10). There was a double bed and 2 twins in the room (Leeds was our room name). Ample space for our quick trip. It's very close to the Dover Castle, though I'm glad we didn't walk to it--no problem for us, but it would have been tough on the kids walking up and down the steep hill especially when there was so much walking around the castle. It's located very close to the ferry, and about a 15 minute walk to the train station. The breakfast was delicious--even my picky kids ate it. I wish we had had more time there. We would definitely stay again if we found ourselves in Dover.

Close to Dover Castle, great!

The room was very clean, the bedding was comfortable, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the location was great and the breakfast was outstanding. However, the room was very small, had no air conditioning (although we didn't need it), on a busy street (which wasn't a problem) and there was very limited space to store luggage (if arriving before check-in). I would stay there again but would request a bigger room.

Charming hotel, walking distance to Castle

Posted 28-Sep-2013
Pros: Easy to find, very helpful and lovely owner, nothing too much trouble for her.
Cons: Nothing within their power - a car park next to the hotel would be good.
Location: The Castle is a must. You will need a full day to see it all. It is within walking distance.
Very nice and helpful staff, good breakfast, comfortable bed, and very handy to shops , Laundrymat, and restaurants .

Castle Giest House, Dover

Posted 13-Sep-2013
Pros: Central location easy to walk to town, amenities, castle, etc. staff polite & breakfast amazing - a must!
Cons: Windows on first floor at front to stop noise. Some extra attention to detail in room - wobbly toilet rail & towel rails, loose doublet sockets.
Location: Location central. Castle brilliant & worth a visit - took us 5 hours! Town centre could do with some radical investment. Deal worth a visit, quaint
Stayed for 3 nights with family member. After securing place to park on the road, arrived early, met by staff & shown to room on the first floor which was nice. Guest house situated on the corner of small road & main road. After a quick look round town centre & having meal, settled down to a good nights sleep after a long journey. The windows in the room were single glazed & let quite a bit of road traffic noise in which meant we struggled to get a proper nights sleep. This was due to a road being closed to the docks!! The noise was also due to a slightly open window which we couldn't shut & this was rectified the next day, however noise was still a slight problem. However do not let this put you off, the rooms were nice, the beds comfy & the breakfast was excellent. Central to town centre. We visited the castle & wartime tunnels, excellent, a must to visit. Took a trip to Deal which was lovely & quaint, another must. We even had to put more time on the car park ticket! We ate at the local Weatherspoons in Dover as found this to be the best choice. To note some places were shut on amonday nights.
