“central and convenient”
Lovely hotel and ideal location. Bed too squishy and had to pay for parking which is always irritating. V hood Gym.Otherwise no complaints
“Beautiful Canterbury Hotel”
A beautiful hotel in Central Canterbury, close to all the sights. Rooms were cleans and beautifully decorated. The bed however was far too soft which cause both my partner and me to have an awful night. The restaurant food was amazing anyone staying the hotel should definitely go.
“Fantastic location!”
Went here for weekend away without kids. It's right on the High Street so there are a plethora of bars / cafes and restaurants right on the doorstep. We set ourselves the challenge of eating in no chains all weekend and had more than enough to choose from - La Trappiste and the Boho Cafe are both highly recommended. The hotel staff were all more than helpful. We ate the seven course taster menu with wine on the Saturday night - well worth the experience, but a very expensive meal. We certainly weren't over-full as the portions are tiny, but with seven courses you wouldn't want great platefuls. We went for the Desirable room - very comfy bed and furnishings. The only downside was the bathroom which was slightly tired looking - paint peeling and a bit chipped - but everything else was great.
“Fabulous location”
This boutique hotel is located on the main street in Canterbury in easy walking distance to the cathederal and shops. We thought the breakfast price (even with the 40% discount) was high, but we enjoyed the bar/lounge area.
“wonderful combination of old and new”
Lovely hotel, very pleasant staff
“Centrally located in an old mediveal city of Canterbury”
If you are looking for a city centre located hotel, this is the place to be in Canterbury. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, excellently modernised and spacious. Parking is limited. However, 2 hotel car parks help. Internet log-in is not as convenient as other 4/5 star hotels. Rather cumbersome with the need to verify the login at your email address. Room safes are badly maintained. Check with staff before leaving your valuables in as they are prone to power failure! No functioning master key was avaiulable at hotel management. Food and beverage are fine for fine cuisine dining experience. For hearty meals, there are numerous better options within the walking distance.
“Highly Recommended”
An excellent hotel with professional, friendly and helpful staff. Top quality rooms and faciilities, including car parking which was not mentioned on the website. The central location could not have been more convenient for all that Canterbury has to offer. A very enjoyable experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. However breakfast in the Michael Caine restaurant was disappointing and poor by comparison - the staff clearly modelled their customer service on Basil Fawlty, my breakfast order was slow to arrive, not what I ordered and came with a blonde hair on the food. There are very good alternative places to have breakfast close by.
“Great location”
The location of this hotel couldn't be better. The downside is the lack or very limited parking. The bed was far too soft which made it very uncomfortable. For 2 nights was ok but I wouldn't like to stay longer.
“Good value design hotel”
Distinct interior design, combinding modern comforts in old-world charm. Small rooms and bathrooms, but with all amenities. Friendly but mostly inexperienced staff. Best ,location in central Canterbury; good formal restaurant dining and contempory brasserie; comfortable street front lounge.
“Pricey but worth it”
This is a very European Hotel (it is in England, afterall) and our long weekend stay way wonderful. It is in the heart of downtown, historic Canterbury, within walking distance to much of historic Canterbury. Our room didn't have a clock-radio, and was at the back of the hotel with a view of the carpark, but otherwise was very comfortable. Our one complaint was that the taxi can't pull up to the front of the hotel because it is fronted on High Street, a pedestrian-way. There is a side entrance which we found out about on our second day, so after that we could get to a taxi just down the road about 100 feet from the side door. Staff is wonderful, and the bar provides ice as requested. The restaurants lived up to their good reputations.
