The welcome was extremely friendly and the person on reception could not have been more cheerful or helpful (even at 4.30am the next morning when we left!). The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. There was a good selection of food in the restaurant and it was very tasty (although there was a slightly more limited choice if you arrived after about 10pm). Breakfast starts at 5am, which is great for early flights, and the airport is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. I would highly recommend it.
Because of an airline strike, I ended up having 24 hours in Iceland. I was able to book this hotel to have some quiet, relaxing time before going back to the airport. This hotel is great! The staff are very friendly, there is a shuttle that takes you to and from the airport, and the room is comfortable and clean. I was travelling alone, so I booked a single room. There was a bed and a desk, which is all I personally needed. While there was no bathroom in my room, its really not a big deal because there are several bathrooms nearby that are single, private bathrooms. Kind of like bathrooms in your house. The free wifi was also great, I was able to do my work without any problems. The hotel is extremely close to a high street with some restaurants and shops. It is also very close to the sea, where there are some cool walking paths. I highly recommend this place!
I had a flight come in after 1 a.m. and the shuttle pick up was not a problem at that hour, nor was the check in. They are open 24 hours. The cabin was lovely too, with warm separate shower, and comfortable bed. Practical desk and small kitchenette. Only grudge is the few exchnage fees incurred with booking. Wifi isn't available in the cabins but the main lobby/lounge and breakfast are close by and not a hassle.
We stayed at this hotel between 19/09/14 and 20/09/14. It was comfortable, the rooms were clean and it is close to the airport.
This hotel is in a very quiet area on the outskirts of Keflavik. The advantage with this was that there was no loud night club or legions of drunks roaming outside. The downside was that it was hard to find, and getting lost is a possibility (I was eventually given directions by a friendly local).
The beds were comfortable and the shower worked. The lounge upstairs was very pleasant. It had coffee, tea, long-life milk, a microwave and paper plates and cutlery. No fridge though. Bring your own supplies for the first day until you can get to a supermarket. Mind you most people will be out exploring during the day in Iceland, so not really a problem, just get some bread, jam and anything else you like that doesn't need refrigerating.
I would recommend this hotel to a friend. It provided a good base to explore south-west Iceland, and Reykjavik is only 40 minutes away by car. I would advise that this hotel is used by people renting cars though, as I have no idea how cheap or frequent the bus connections are, and there are no shops within casual walking distance of this hotel that I saw.
Overall, very good experience. I would definitely use this hotel again.
