Me and my friend stayed at oskars as we wanted a nice chilled holiday. It's out the way and it has a beautiful view. The staff are amazing and the food there is exquisite. Great experience we are planning our next visit in September.
The hotel is modern and clean, the staff very friendly and helpful.
The position of the hotel is perfect to reach the shops and restaurants of Argostoli, but also a good starting point for a drive around the island.

"Beautiful and relaxing place to stay in Kefalonia"
Astra is simply perfect for a relaxing break in the hot Greek sun. Friendly staff, very chilled-out place, all buildings and decor in excellent conditions, the gardens are fantastic. Super pool, lots of sun beds, even in August we always got lots of pool-side time. The sea and a little beach called Ammes is literally 250 metres from Astra, so it's perfect for an afternoon dip. Restaurant is decent enough but probably the only weak link, especially as there's not that many restaurants nearby either.
The only watch-out....if you don't like aeroplanes landing/taking off, then this isn't the place for you! It's very close to the runway, but the planes only land a few times a day, and even then they're actually quite a cool spectacle.

Excellent accomodation in peaceful location with views to die for.
Dionysos the owner was extremely helpful , changed bedding and towels everyday.
Just about able to walk into town at night if you are fit , around 20 mins.
The north is more picturesque than the south , Myrtos Bay, Assos and Fiskado all worth visiting.
"Good choice for holiday - Better than main centres"
We arrived at the Island around 9.25 via Ryan Air, not the most comfortable of airlines but acceptable for a 3 hour journey. Having picked up the hire car, it was quite an event to drive on the right hand side of the road in a left-hand drive car for the first time and it was hairy trying to find the hotel in the dark with a minimum of road signs but after several wrong turnings we made it. Thank goodness it was only 2 miles from the airport. Had we chosen a far more distant resort it would have been a little unnerving to undertake such a journey for the first time.
We had overall a lovely week apart from Thursday. We had decided to drive up to Fiscardo at the top of the island but the heavens opened before we arrived. When it rains on Kefalonia it is generally torrential. We spent a hair-raising 2 hours trying to make it back to the hotel on a coastal hairpin bending road with orange coloured floods and falling cliffs but we did make it. The island is beautiful but the roads on the whole are full of pot holes and very poorly signposted. Still it was an adventure. We had some wonderful meals and enjoyed it thoroughly. I would have liked more information about the filming of the book Captain Correlli's Mandolin, which alerted us originally to this island but there was little if nothing to advertise that it had taken place. That was quite a disappointment but with some research on-line we did find some of the locations where filming had taken place.
After reading all the previous reviews, I thought it would be hard to meet those standards. Well, it went further and if I could it would be six stars. Arrived on an very early flight from Athens, welcomed into Katerina and Barry home/hotel and from that moment is was a life changing experience.
We hired a car for the second half of a six day stay and each day, we were given guidance of what to see and do. For the first three days, Katerina and Barry would drive us to the local town, where we would hop on a ferry to one of the islands and then get a taxi back.
In the evenings we were treated to Katerina's cooking. Imagine your favourite restaurant, well this it is plus a lovely setting looking down on the flowers in the courtyard and village.
"Informal relaxation destination in remote location"
We found the availability of this hotel when searching online for specific dates for a holiday to Kefalonia. Other reviews about its remote location and ability to relax and unwind appealed to us. This cannot be overstated! We chose to hire a car for 3 days. As we have had such a fantastic time, next time we will hire a car for the whole of our stay. Other reviews mention having a room on the second floor: we did not have to request this - our room had already been allocated on this preferred floor. The views are breathtaking. The pool is lovely, a lot bigger than you might expect for a hotel of this size. The bar area is great, having a bit inside and also seating outside. Our bathroom and the loos near the bar were impeccably clean and our room was made up every day. Our towels were changed once during the week, which was adequate. There are two beaches within walking distance: St Thomas's and Trapezaki. Both are down very steep hills, so this must be considered if you are not very agile. But you can park at both, so if you have a car, that makes it easier. Having a car is also beneficial if you want to eat out, as both beaches have small tavernas (St Thomas = 2, Trapezaki = 1). Eating at the hotel is "OK" but not fine dining level. The staff all speak superb English and Reception arranged our car hire. The gardens are lovely, if a little unkempt. Try Denis's Taverna, Trapezaki beach for a meal out. Stunning and VERY high class. Tip: take own teabags!
