Had a wonderful holiday at the Limonaki Hotel. There is a lovely landscaped garden, large swimming pool and the views are outstanding. The hotel staff are great, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet is good with plenty of choices. Lunch and dinners are also available and these are very good and reasonably priced. Bar tender Michael makes wonderful cocktails and is fun, with great English. He also has a nice sense of humour. There are nice little touches like a dryer with clothes pegs on every balcony - perfect!

"Informal relaxation destination in remote location"
We found the availability of this hotel when searching online for specific dates for a holiday to Kefalonia. Other reviews about its remote location and ability to relax and unwind appealed to us. This cannot be overstated! We chose to hire a car for 3 days. As we have had such a fantastic time, next time we will hire a car for the whole of our stay. Other reviews mention having a room on the second floor: we did not have to request this - our room had already been allocated on this preferred floor. The views are breathtaking. The pool is lovely, a lot bigger than you might expect for a hotel of this size. The bar area is great, having a bit inside and also seating outside. Our bathroom and the loos near the bar were impeccably clean and our room was made up every day. Our towels were changed once during the week, which was adequate. There are two beaches within walking distance: St Thomas's and Trapezaki. Both are down very steep hills, so this must be considered if you are not very agile. But you can park at both, so if you have a car, that makes it easier. Having a car is also beneficial if you want to eat out, as both beaches have small tavernas (St Thomas = 2, Trapezaki = 1). Eating at the hotel is "OK" but not fine dining level. The staff all speak superb English and Reception arranged our car hire. The gardens are lovely, if a little unkempt. Try Denis's Taverna, Trapezaki beach for a meal out. Stunning and VERY high class. Tip: take own teabags!
Stayed there for a few nights - staff were amazing - especially at reception. Really helpful and went out of their way to attend to every need. Great views of the sunrise (sun sets on the other side of the island). The main outdoor pool is amazing - massive - never feels crowded. Breakfast buffet was good, lunch was a little disappointing. Didn't try the dinner. Comfortable rooms - spacious and nice balconies - we stayed in a junior suite (room 611) -- recommend that strip.
After reading all the previous reviews, I thought it would be hard to meet those standards. Well, it went further and if I could it would be six stars. Arrived on an very early flight from Athens, welcomed into Katerina and Barry home/hotel and from that moment is was a life changing experience.
We hired a car for the second half of a six day stay and each day, we were given guidance of what to see and do. For the first three days, Katerina and Barry would drive us to the local town, where we would hop on a ferry to one of the islands and then get a taxi back.
In the evenings we were treated to Katerina's cooking. Imagine your favourite restaurant, well this it is plus a lovely setting looking down on the flowers in the courtyard and village.
