“lovely!”
The staff was extreemly friendly and helpful! thank you!
“Good for the money”
The hotel was under construction due to a fire. Our room location required us to walk by the trash and maintenance building. We also had to walk four flights of stairs to get to our room. The landscaping and surrounding area is beautiful. I would have been disappointed with the hotel had I paid a steep price. However, I purchased it on a pre-paid package including a rental car for a very reasonable price for Hawaii. I would recommend the hotel so long as you do not overpay.
“Very disappointed”
After walking down four flights of stairs to get to my room (no elevator) I discovered that it had a strong musty odor that wouldn't go away. (Later I saw water damage around the floorboards). I called the front desk to report the problem and request a different room and was greeted with polite indifference. Since there were no other units I had to find different accommodations (on my own, no help from them) and move out. When I attempted to get a refund on my unused nights, the hotel manager Guy P. refused to return calls either from myself or from Expedia. Never had such a bad experience with hotel staff!
“Don't expect a hotel or condo!”
1. Nice landscaped location and view, the help very friendly. 2. NOT a HOTEL – it’s a collection of Time Shares/Condos, some of which are rented out. 3. Our room, not unit, was a 20’x20’ Guest Bedroom to our neighbor’s unit - NO kitchen facilities, no counter or cupboard for storage, the 4-cup coffee maker was in the bathroom. 4. NO microwave, even though they advertise one in every unit. 5. The refrigerator, in the bedroom set on a luggage rack, was a ‘Dorm’ sized unit – room for a six-pack only. The ‘safe’ in the closet was missing the lock mechanism. 6. Phone was not working when we arrived, two days later it was fixed after we asked twice. 7. The stopper in the tub was not working. 8. No useful HOTEL facilities – NO Bar, NO Restaurant. Rooms were not cleaned or beds made every day, twice a week was all, unless you pay $25 extra each time. If you want towels, soap, tissue or coffee any other time there was a $10 charge. We were aware of the $25 parking/resort fee and a $25 room cleaning fee when you check out (10 am!), not ALL these other fees. There were a couple of unheated swimming pools and a Jacuzzi, a souvenir store, and a small exercise room. 9. Since there are NO food service within walking distance you MUST RENT a car to go into Princeville or Hanalei. 10. Parking was off site – either a long walk or a call for a golf cart. It would be extremely difficult for those who could not walk any distance.
“Would definitely stay here again”
I loved it here. It's exactly the kind of place I want to stay at when I come to Hawaii. Beautiful, low key and very comfy. I went paddleboarding one day and the instructor said I was staying at the best place on the island. The restaurant and lounge weren't open when I was there. But,the staff told me that someone just bought them and they would be opening soon. That was honestly, the only thing that was lacking here. The staff was amazing and extremely helpful. The have a great little fitness center (could use a few more machines) and offer yoga and some other fitness classes. I had friends that were staying at The Westin up the street and even they liked my place better. It just depends on what you're looking for. I didn't want a boujie, corporate atmosphere. I got a nice, little paradise.
“Very Good All Around”
I was skeptical at first when booking , because of price , but was very satisfied with the surroundings , staff , and quality of my entire experience . I would stay again in a heartbeat !
“"Never again"”
Do not waste your time or money at this dump. I so mad I could spit.
“A fun stay, great pool and grounds.”
The studio with the sofabed was uncomfortable even for a sofabed. The adjoining door to the next room was not sound proof, you can hear your neighbor talking through the door. Despite those two problems the North shore location is great, the kitchen had everything you need, the pool and grounds are tropical and scenic. It is a long walk to the beach on a steep paved walkway but they offer a shuttle cart to and from the beach. The beach is great for snorkling and has a sandy shore. Do'nt be one of the many tourist who walk out onto the coral reefs, the reefs are living organisms, it looks like rock but it's not. I noticed too many people were doing this.
“I'd never go back.”
It's as good as it gets for the price I guess, but there's no restaurant or bar because it was 'recently sold', although I was also charged a daily resort fee. They do have a decent pool and hot tub, if you can find a moment when it's not occupied by others. The cleanliness or the hotel rooms and buildings were poor, the television in the room was probably a 15". No refrigerator in the room, and good food is a ten minute drive away. Don't be fooled by the condition of the lobby and pool area. It's a cheap place to stay, so if that's all you're looking for in a 'resort', then you should be fine.
“It's a Trade-off”
The grounds, location and price of this hotel can't be beat. In exchange for this, the rooms themselves are moldy with a 70's feel. Wait, maybe its 80's, like Golden Girls-style. Our room had an adjoining door with a broken lock, there was doorjamb used for this purpose. Also, there are the kind of roaches in the bathroom that don't run when you turn off the light at night. Gangster roaches. It took 45 minutes for someone to bring an iron and ironing board to our hotel room. This made us rush to get our clothes ironed in time to dash to a wedding when the iron leaked all over my light-colored dress, rendering it completely see-through. But, just then it started raining and my husband and I figured we could blame it on the rain and ran off in time to just make the procession. This is the cheapest hotel in Princeville for a reason. The grounds, pools, and pool-side hotdogs with bacon are wonderful but thinking about that room again gives me the itches. The staff is pleasant, but will lie about iron ETA!
