We stayed five nights, the first half of a vacation in Taiwan. This is an excellent tourist hotel, with quiet, spacious rooms, beautiful bathrooms, a great buffet breakfast (Chinese, Western and some hybrid dishes), and a knowledgeable concierge. My only gripe was our treatment on arrival. We got to the hotel about 7 a.m. after a long overnight from NYC. We were greeted by a full phalanx of doormen and porters, and seated before the check-in clerk with great fanfare, only to be told that check-in time is 3 p.m., and no rooms were available. The only information the clerk would give us was that he would give us a room "as soon as possible." He offered no other hospitality, no suggestion how we might find some comfort after being up for more than 20 hours. We went next door to Starbucks for coffee and came back an hour later - the same thing. We went for a long walk, and lunch, and came back at 2 p.m., and still had to wait. Finally we got a room. Every morning when we left the hotel for our day of sightseeing, we saw incoming tourists sitting, exhausted, in the lobby waiting for their rooms.
