I stayed at this Econo Lodge on a recent business trip for a writing conference at the convention center. After I checked in and was given my room key on the 3rd floor, Rm. 321, I asked where the elevator was, and I was told it was "out of service."
I couldn't believe that because I have a sciatica nerve issue and a herniated disk, which makes it difficult and painful for me to walk and climb stairs. I asked for another room and was told all the rooms were booked. You can imagine how upset I was.
I slowly, painfully climbed the stairs to my room and saw this monstrous vacuum cleaner right outside my door. When I closed the door and attempted to lock it, the 2nd safety lock was broken.
When I attempted to take a shower, I discovered that there was no shower handle but a rusty screw I had to struggle, using a towel to turn it on, so I didn't cut my fingers.
In the early morning, I was woken up by birds chirping and knocking about in the heater box unit. I thought they were about to fly into the room as I worked on my conference presentation. Did I mention the blanket smelled bad? I took pictures of everything, called the hotel to ask for a refund. The receptionist said, call Expedia to get a refund. I called Expedia, they called the hotel and the hotel said, no refund. What's going on here?? A run-around?? Is this a lawsuit waiting to happen? Needless to say, I still would like a full refund.
