I received warm welcome on arrival. The staff were helpful, friendly and ready to assist at all times. The location and structural design of the hotel at the Atlantic Ocean coast is maginificent and made my stay most enjoyable and memorable. The food was great, both local and non-local cuisines. The hotel is good value for money.
Two words: LOVE IT!!! It was the highlight of my trip to Ghana (Sept 1-13, 2014). Although it is quite a ways off of the beaten track and what a rough and tumble path it is to get there . . . The ELMINA BAY RESORT is spectacular, superbly-situated... and well worth the effort to get there. Secluded and satisfying to all the senses. The staff are most accommodating and professional, courteous and the MOST gorgeous staff you will ever want to meet. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and filling. The views were breath-taking and get this.... there is plenty of HOT water. Whether sitting on your personal balcony or whiling away the hours around the pool, you will feel like you are finally on the vacation you have always dreamed of... I can not wait to return to this paradise of pleasure in a cove of comfort.
I would definitely stay at Coconut Grove Bridge House again. The staff was very kind and attentive, and the rooms very clean. Power went out occasionally, but that is no fault of the hotel. When it did go out, the generator was turned on quickly. This isn't going to be like a fine European hotel, but for Africa it is very nice. Also, the location is spectacular - right in the heart of things.
My first reaction to the outer appearance of Elmina Beach Resort, was that it was okay. Nothing breathtaking. When I entered the lobby, I was struck by the beauty of woodwork. The friendly staff checked me in (thank goodness I had my online Expedia reservation with me because one of my colleagues had an extended check-in period because he did not). As the porter and I walked the room, I was impressed with the ocean views. When I arrived to my very clean room, the stench of mildew was so strong, I had to ask the porter to turn on the air conditioner. After he left, I called the first desk to discuss how this could be remedied. After all, this place was my accommodations for the next three days. She assured me that she would send a member of housekeeping to the room to spruce up. The water was so comfortably hot that showered for at least 10 minutes. I went out with friends. On arrival back to the room, the room had been spruced up and a can of floral-smelling Raid was left behind. So, between the Raid and adequately-functioning air conditioner, the mildew odor was not overwhelming! So, the service was great. Each day the room was cleaned.
The overly-priced restaurant rates 6.5 out of 10.
Therefore, I would stay at the hotel again for several reasons: (1) Wi-Fi is very reliable; never dropped for three days during my usage of about four hours a day; (2) service; and (3) views, along with good HOT water.
Make reservations online, but take the confirmation with you.
