We had a great stay in this hotel: desk staff were polite and helpful. We asked for a quiet room and were located overlooking the courtyard on the second floor: not a scenic view, but very quiet. The room was extremely comfortable (excellent mattress) and the bathroom clean and modern. We had trouble connecting to the internet, but the front desk were very helpful and things were sorted out immediately. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, but very much enjoyed a café just to the left out the front door on the far corner. We also had a nice dinner on the Sunday night at the restaurant just across the street from the hotel, on the left. Good food and very nice staff.
Breakfast is on the expensive side; however, it is a full buffet and it has everything you need to keep you going for many hours!! If you look for something cheaper, there is a very nice supermarket with great coffee facing the same square where the hotel is located and there is always the Oberlaa, a wonderful viennaise coffee shop!
The hotel is difficult to find since it's advertised with an address on a street where there is no entrance. Nonetheless, the main entrance is right in front of a beautiful fountain, across the street from the Kapuchinen's church.
With 2 girlfriends, all of us over 70, I just returned from 7 days in Vienna. We booked lodging with Expedia at Hotel Royal and were totally impressed with it, especially at such a rate.Breakfast in the restaurant was fantastic. We've never eaten such delicious fresh and moist scrambled eggs, but couldn't weasel the recipe from our servers; maybe the chef keeps it a total secret! The rest of breakfast was marvelous too -- juices, many breads, cheeses, meat slices, fruits, etc., etc. The late lunches or early dinners were wonderful so we had time to walk to whatever evening musical event we were bound. The serving staff was efficient and friendly.
The front desk personnel were efficient, good-natured, and helpful. They joined us graciously in dogging the airlines to find our lost luggage, although that wasn't at all a good experience! Expedia helped us greatly with that glitch. Anyway, from the hotel we could walk everywhere we wanted to, directly or catch a subway. The trip package price was fantastic, but we'd return to Hotel Royal anyway in a heartbeat when we return to Vienna!
Nice apartment, spacey, in a very convenient location. Just walk across a pathway, the Opera house is right in front of your face. Walking distance to lots of attractions, including famous Nesch Market, no need to buy bus or subway pass.

I just had cheap stays in London, Paris, Zurich, Vienna & Rome. Opera Suites was the best; the right balance of price, condition friendly staff & location worked for me. After a late finish watching the ballet in the Vienna opera house, it was great to only have to cross the road to be home for the night.
I stayed two nights in this hotel and it was a really nice experience. Room was big, clean and very comfortable. Good breakfast buffet. Location is superb, just meters of "Karntner Strasse" that is a famous shopping street. In general, hotel is walking distance of many interesting places like Opera House or Danube river. Staff is extremely kind and helpful. Can't think of a better choice for central Vienna.
