For me, the BEST resort on Maui. Yes, it's older, yes, it's smaller. Everything thing else about this place is over the top great!! Especially the staff, from the housekeepers to the Presdent of the company Tom whom I have met are great, friendly, helpful people who are glad you are there.
Our daughter was married At Royal Lahania last week, I put my full trust in them to make that occasion what we all want our daughters wedding to be and they did not disappoint.
We came in late at night, and Sara offered us free sandwiches, because the kitchen was closed. We reserved double beds, and because they were all booked up she upgraded us to an ocean view, and gave us a roll-away which my 17 year old son said was comfortable. They have probably the best snorkeling on the stretch of the beach because of its proximity to black rock. The room had some dead bugs in it, but we cleaned them up, no big deal. Better dead than alive. The grounds are well manicured, and the staff is very friendly, and helpful.
It looks exactly like the pictures. It's very great place, friendly staff. It's worth every penny you spent for the comfort and all the amenities it comes with. You won't be disappointed. My family had a wonderful time and will definitely come back and choose this hotel again!
This was our first trip to Maui and boy, did we get lucky! Our experience was great. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds are absolutely breathtaking. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. There are shops and activities and everything you need or want right there. The location is great. Whalers Village and Black Rock are just a little hike away. (We are not young, and we walked it quite a bit) It is also just a short drive to downtown Lahaina. The location really couldn't be better. We would definitely, hands down, choose this hotel again. It was first class all the way.
Honua Kai is great for families. The rooms are comfortable, having a full kitchen was great and best of all the washer and dryer! The pool gets very crowded early, so if your planning on a pool day, you should plan to be poolside by 9am. When booking your room, don't fall for the different views! I upgraded (or at least I thought I did) from a mountain view to a resort view, and totally had a mountain view! I didn't complain because I also had a nice view of the ocean from my balcony. Overall this was a pretty nice place and I would likely stay again.
Enjoyable stay. Very clean. Great location! Just steps to beautiful beach and awesome snorkeling. Very friendly and helpful staff and concierge, but could have used additional staff at the front desk. Love that the "Beach Walk" takes you to several other Hotels and shopping. Castaway cafe on site has great food.
We travelled with our 4 young children and the facilities were great. It had three large pools to choose from and had easy access to the beach where we had great snorkeling available with lots of fish, coral and even turtles!! It had pool bars, restaurants and a free shuttle into the little town. Initially when we arrived we were placed in a room looking into the carpark which upset me as I had paid for an ocean view, but the staff quickly changed us when I expressed my disappointment! I would return here...
Kaanapali is a prime vantage point for viewing humpback whales, which swim by December to May. The town’s whaling history is displayed at Whaler’s Village, a shopping complex and museum. Visitors also can experience the area’s farming past by riding the Sugar Cane Train, a restored steam locomotive. Snorkelers and divers can enjoy the coral reefs and fish that thrive in nearby Black Rock Beach.
