Bellus Rose was a lovely peaceful place whose greatest asset is the landlady Mrs Park. The rooms which were cheerful and comfortable, look out onto a pleasant garden with a swimming pool that was wonderful in the hot weather we experienced. It is situated in the Pension Village in the area known as Buk gun Dong. Although out of the main area of the city it is well serviced by the No.700,10 and 11 buses. The Bellus Rose is about a 12 minute walk from the bus stop but Mrs Park will drop you off and pick you up if you want her to. In the same area is a food village with a wide variety of places to eat. Mrs Park speaks English and will help you plan your day, make bookings for you and lend you a bicycle to explore the area on. We spent four most enjoyable days here and highly recommend it.
The Suites had wonderful staff and quite tasty room service. If we asked for anything, we got it. Two problems, however: one, the "Korean style" bedding is a very, very thin futon...actually, it feels more like you're sleeping on a thin comforter, particularly as there are marble floors in the beautiful rooms! Additionally, the hotel is a bit far from most of the tourist stuff in Gyeongju. Still, a pleasant staff and a beautiful room overall...we were very happy to stay here and would again (in a bed!)
"Highly recommended hotel far from central Gyeongju"
This is a really nice hotel with quality rooms. It's the kind of place that everyone is always smiling at you and opening the door. If you can't handle that, just take the elevator down to the parking level is exit that way to avoid the pomp and circumstance. One thing to keep in mind is the hotel is probably about 10 km from Gyeongju central. It's easy to take the bus there but it just means you'll rely on the bus. There are bike paths around the lake and into Gyeongju so that's another option. Either way, it's not so easy to just pop out for a walk around Gyeongju or find a supermarket/restaurant. The food/coffee is really expensive at the hotel.
If you don't mind commuting by bus/bicycle/foot, this is a great hotel is nice location by the lake.
Tavo House is a family guest house business and I didn't know this when a booked but it turned out to be an excellent opportunity to interact with a Korean family. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lee were great and their son was pretty cool too, I had some good conversations with him. and the grand mother is there too an interesting lady. On my last day, Mr Lee took me and other guest on an early morning (6AM) tour of some important places in the city. It was great. I highly recommend Tavo House.
