“It's ok for the price.”
Nice place to stay away of the city and still near the airport and touristic places. It's not an all inclusive, but the restaurant have good prices and the paella was surprisingly great.
“we could not stay in the hotel , was so nasty”
Is bad is dirty is nasty. And prostits there
“Good price, beautiful grounds and pool”
I travel almost monthly to countries like the DR so I am very used to their culture. I do not expect a 4 or 5 star hotel. First the bad: AC in room was not working (only blows hot air). Went to front desk to ask for a new room or for someone to fix it. Someone did come, played with the AC remote and left. (did not fix anything). finally I just turned off the AC. Room had several fans and although was a little hot in the day, it was ok at night. Also no hot water in the room but from traveling in the DR often, I am used to that so it really did not effect me. Other than those two items (AC & Hot water) the room was nice and clean and comfortable. The good: The location was very good. Directly in front of the hotel (across the street) is an entrance to public beach. Very clean and beautiful. The grounds of the hotel were well kept and was like walking through a garden with trees, flowers and a fish/turtle pond in the middle. There is an exchange place (Cambio) located 50 feet from the hotel offering decent rates. Several great restaurants all within 200 feet of the hotel and also a small casino. The hotel pool was amazing and was as good as pool not often seen until you are in the high end resorts. Pool had bar service so that you could order and drink and never leave the water. For the price I would highly recommend this hotel. The few "bad things" should not distract you from a great stay here. I will be back soon.
“Not impressed”
First room smelled like old urine and the air conditioning was not working and the second room was very muggy and the air conditioning barely worked.
“Good”
Good, area should look better next time around. A lot of new construction in the surrounding area, a guess NEW hotels.
“Do your homework before booking.”
I was totally disappointed with my choice of this hotel totally outdated. staff was ok. Reception area was helpful. Housekeeping need some training. The owner of bar near the pool had a very cocky additude not very nice at all very rude, i avoided him as much as possible. He should not be back there un professional. As long as he is back there i will not return because that bar is what makes the pool area more pleasant.
“Not impressed.. ,”
Expedia should remove it from its list. The rooms were extremely filthy. This hotel is definitely sub standard. It was so bad that we left the same day we checked in. It was a disaster.
“Nothing like the pictures! Families beware.”
It is obvious that most of the positive reviews are from people who have never stayed at this hotel. This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at in my life! My wife and I booked this hotel for a week based on the price, pictures on the website and user reviews. When we got to Juan Dolio, ourselves and the cab driver couldn't find the hotel it looked so different than the pictures. Pictures were nothing like online. We checked in and was given a room beside some alley out back. Inside the room smelled awful and mold and mildew were everywhere from every sink to the "shower". Almost no security onsite. Since the hotel was on the street, many locals were just hanging out and walking around on the property. Our room had no deadbolt or any other lock besides the small lock on the doorhandle. It was so weak, that we had to prop a chair behind the door to make sure nobody could break in during the night. On top of the unsafe feeling that the lock on the door gave you there was a dog tied up outside our hotel that barked constantly all night. There was no way that we were going to spend another night in this hotel, so the next day we walked down the street and booked a room for the remainder of our stay with an All Inclusive resort. Thankfully they had rooms available so only 1 day of our vacation was ruined. This hotel is not a place for families and I would never stay there again or recommend it to anyone.
“I fell in love with the whole experience”
I fell in love with the whole experience! Can't wait to go back!!
“Quieter than the big resorts”
This is a great hotel for anyone looking for a more personalized beach experience. The staff are friendly and laid back. It will probably be even better in the next couple years when all the surrounding construction is finished. The pool and garden are both really nice and offer a great contrast to the beach. It is also nice for domestic tourists because they offer fridges and facilities for cooking. The beach really is nearby but there are no chairs from the hotel there and you need to bring your own towels. Their restaurant has the best pizza I have ever had. Although it is called a "Resort" it is an alternative to the huge all inclusive joints that are just down the road. In my opinion it is a step up. It is a place you can actually relax and be yourself at without the same temptation to eat and drink your face off.
