"Good for an inexpensive stay convineint to transpo"
This was a motel in the strict sense of the word. It was not fancy in any respect, and due to the location any problems can be attributed to the fact that the whole area is just now recovering from the effects of Sandy. The staff seemed pleasant and cooperative. We were looking for a hotel that was reasonable, and close to transportation to NYC. The price was reasonable for the area, however, there was a sign on the main road advertising a $31.00 rate, which needs to be changed to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.
I stayed in the Allegria for one night, which was one night too many. The room's air conditioning didn't work, and I had to call maintenance three times before anyone even showed up to fix it. And then they had to come back literally three times, and still didn't get it working.
The next day when checking out, the hotel's management kindly let me know that if I had any issues I would have to take them up with Expedia, they couldn't do anything to assist. So a full-price, overpriced, frustrating experience for an uncomfortable evening with very little actual sleep. I won't even go into the experience at the on-site restaurant, but that's got another several reasons to never stay here again.
Unfortunately there are not any other real options for places to stay in Long Beach, so it looks like I won't be going back there anytime soon.
This was a very pleasant surprise. The reviews were not good so I had been hesitant to go. The staff was very helpful. The place was clean. The bed was comfortable. Television was nice.
Price was good. Easy to recommend. Wish I had tried it sooner.
