We stayed at the hotel recently in the Deluxe Room. The room was facing the Ganges and was beautiful.
Since we had seen the reviews and booked the hotel online, we were not sure what to expect.. and once we reached there, there was truck getting repaired nearby and we were first taken aback by the first impression we had..as the photographs provide large than life expectations.. but once we had parked and moved inside we were totally satisfied. The staff was good, the check-in was smooth.. the rooms were clean and very comfortable and provided an excellent view (We were on the third floor). The food was good. Overall a great experience.
Our car was also washed regularly on request every morning. The gentleman on the gate was helpful and Triveni Ghat is walking distance from the Hotel. Remember to go on the roof top (above the restaurant) for a 360 deg view of Rishikesh.
This is a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of cities and towns. Anand is a kind and genuine host who provided us with a warm welcome after our crazy taxi journey from Delhi. The service was super, food was amazing (seriously the best we've had in India) and the location is awe inspiring. Life here is simple - walk in the hills, along rivers and to the Ganges, visit ashrams and temples or take a taxi to a local town (best prices for souvenirs so far!). Come to Rishikesh Valley if you want some time to unwind and nourish your body and mind in a beautiful natural setting. Bring a jumper in winter for the colder nights.
My wife and myself had a lovely relaxing stay in the Hilltop Swiss Cottage thanks to the care and attention give n by the staff, Nishant and Jatinder in particular. They really looked after us and helped with arranging trips and getting the most out of our stay in Rishakesh. We did have one or two minor niggling issues with the room but these were quickly and courteously dealt with so not real complaints there.
Whilst at the Hilltop we went on a dawn trek to see the sunrise, fantastic and well worth the 5am start. We also went on Safari to Rajaji national park which although enjoyable was a little disappointing in that we didn't see any Tigers or Leopards, and the only Elephants we saw were actually just outside the park. We did see a lot of deer, peacocks and wild pigs.
There are lots of Yoga classes around Rishakesh, which my wife enjoyed attending.
For places to eat I'd recommend the Devraj bookstore and cafe next to Laxmanjula bridge, the food is very good with a relaxed atmosphere and good view over the bridge. I'd also recommend the Nirvana Bistro and the Rasta cafe just down the hill from the Hilltop, both have very good service and high standard of food.
I'd point out that the location is not for the unfit, it is a fairly steep climb to the rooms and there are no lifts (or any realistic way of putting them in) so definitely not for the infirm but otherwise a great location far enough away from the town to be quiet but close enough to walk to the center.
We had 3 spacious rooms on the first floor with a very good view of the surrounding area. The rooms included a separate sitting area and a dressing area. We had breakfast on the balcony every day and it was glorious.
The staff were very obliging, especially helping our 89 year old mum in and out of chairs and also allowing her to use the easy routes to get back to the room.
The hotel gave us information and booked the rafting on the Ganges River. It was a very good experience.
Access to Wi fi was good in the main hotel.
Walks to the river were interesting.
Although the rooms were comfortable, they just needed a little repairs e.g one room had no tap tops oin the spare(dressing room) and another the taps leaked.
The food was good
