“Fair Price for Good Services”

If you are looking for a good hotel for a fair price, If you are looking for a room to crash in after a long day, Then Protea is good for you. Do not expect 5* services but relatively a good hotel for what you are paying. A rented car with GPS is a must

“updated hotel, but somewhat isolated...”

Stayed there for 3 nights during the World Cup. The menu in their restaurant only had like 4 items on it...so not very much to eat. Staff was friendly and had no problems with check-in. There is nothing really within walking distance, so I would recommend you rent a car or ask if they provide a complimentary shuttle. The hotel was providing shuttle services during the World Cup, but prices were absoultely outrageous! So definitely get informed, especially if you'll be going to downtown Johannesburg, Mandela Square or Melrose Arch. The hotel is gated so that was good because there is not much in the surrounding area.

Getting around
I would suggest renting a car or asking the hotel if they provide complimentary shuttles because taxi's are ridiculously expensive.

“Welcome to Joberg”

We found the hotel reasonable easy ( 1st time using a gps)
