“Convenience and Comfort”

Great airport themed hotel, staff were good as was breakfast, easy shuttle from the airport and comfy bed. For aviation enthusiasts you can get a room overlooking the airport and runways at O R Tambo.

“Impressive hotel for a short stopover”

Great choice for a hotel that is near the airport if you have a night or two to spend. 1/4 the price of the very expensive Intercontinental at the airport, merely 10mins away from the airport and another 10mins away from shopping and great food at the Emperor's Palace. Most importantly, it was extremely comfortable and the hotel had great character. Definitely a choice find! The only downside: Don't share rooms with colleagues. It was a really cool open plan bathroom.

“Still Good!”

This is my 4th stay at this hotel. I always use it when I am in transit in OR Tambo. This is a clean, safe, and restful place (except the restaurant that it´s too chaotic fior me). I usually order food to my room. The service has been always fast and good. The room it´s small but has everything you need: desk, WiFi, dryer, safe, etc. The pillows are great. Just be aware that the shuttle to the airport starts at 6:15 am, not really convinient for the very early flights.

Area recommendations

This is OR Tambo. I stay in the hotel all the time until I leave JNB.

“Excellent Hotel to stay near Airport”

Very nice hotel to stay near the airport. It's accross the airport but you can't cross the road. you have to go around. It's 10 min drive.

“Great Overnighter!”

What a great little hotel close to the airport - perfect for that overnight stay after a long flight. Complimentary shuttle service provided, clean & comfortable room. Very pleaseant staff.

“Generally Nice But a Little Noisy”

Generally the hotel was nice and should be considered about 3.5stars. Several negatives: 1. Room quite noisy. I stayed in a room with an adjoining room. I could hear everything that the person in the next room did or said. The door was thin and there was no sound proofing or flashing. 2. No Shuttle for Earlier Morning FLights: I have never stayed at a hotel in an international airport that did not have shuttles for early morning flights. Here, the first shutle starts at 6 am which means that you must take an expensive taxi to go less than 1 mile if you have any flight before 7:30. When I was leaving there were a lot of not so happy people with this issue. I did not try the restaurant but it looked reasonably good and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and well trained.

“ort protea”

The hotel was clean and airy, but a very noisy dining room with limited menu variety. The location was bad in the you were "trapped" at the hotel since you needed a shuttle to go to the airport and there were no shops, restaurants or other nearby places to walk to from the hotel. I could not get the Wi-fi to work and the staff did not seem very knowledgable of how to use it.

Area recommendations

I would recommend Johannesburg city centre because there are a lot of shops, restaurants that you can walk to if you are careful to choose a good area.

“Nice option near airport”

Clean and comfortable, good price/benefit relation. Perfect option for transit in Jo'burg, but use the hotel shuttle as the hotel is in a remote part of the airport area.
