“It's just a good hotel”
It had everything we needed it was clean, quite easy to find, nice garden to sit and have a beer, good blackout curtains. Nice decor. Did everything we wanted.
“Great duvets and a good nights sleep”
Spending more than 100 nights a year in hotel rooms (4 and 5 stars), you would expect a comfortable duvet, but often you get blankets which are only separating you with a loose linnen sheet, which you kick off during the night. You end of sleeping with the blanket which is not washed for every guest change, and you do not know what has happend on those blankets. This hotel has very confortable duvets, which are fully covered, which is hygenical and gives you an excellent nights sleep. The hotel is older, but has character, also located in a convienient location (Sandton).
“Good hotel in Sandton”
I needed a hotel for 2 nights before heading out on safari and this hotel did the job - quite well, actually! I got a great rate on Expedia which also included breakfast. The breakfast was good with a lot of choices. I arrived from the airport on the Gau Train and then was picked up by the hotel's complementary shuttle - this was nice! The beds were super comfy and the little fridge was great for drinks and snacks. There is actually a shopping mall attached to the hotel which made it easy for buying water and snacks. There is a money change place in this mall too. I felt very safe in the neighbourhood and was within walking distance to Nelson Mandela square. I would stay here again.
“Super hotel very convenient plocation”
The hotel was super and in a good location, staff very helpful excellent overall but the resturant was quite expensive, but do not worry there are lots of places within walking distance and hundreds within driving distance.
“The best breakfast I have ever eaten. I can't wait to go back.”
The breakfast was amazing. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The bed was extremely comfortable.
“Can't wait to go back. Best location. EXCELLENT SERVICE.”
I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends. All the staff was happy and friendly. Very clean hotel with the best bathroom/shower. Also very comfy beds. Beautiful breakfast. A very large range of hot/cold breakfast that caters for everyone. Easy reach to the Gautrain so easy excess to Airport and Rosebank. Only a 5 minute walk to Sandton train station and Mandela Square. You can also get the train from the airport to Sandton train station and the hotel will collect you on their free shuttle service that they offer. I found it really easy to walk if you just wanted to take the train to Rosebank. Make sure you go on a Sunday so you don't miss out on Rosebank Roof Top Markets. Fantastic market with plenty of art etc. Plenty of restaurants also. I will definitely go back to South Africa and would stay at this hotel. I rate this hotel 10 out of 10 due to the caring, dedicated staff which is an asset to any hotel.
“The only problem was that the breakfast buffet was a huge disappointment”
The breakfast buffet was cold even though they were using burners to keep the food warm. There was a great selection but everything tasted awful.
“A very lively place in safe surroundings...”
Excellent place, lots of food options around the hotel, safe and with good service. They now have a pick up shuttle service to and from the new Sandton Metro station.
“Noise”
The front of the hotel gives you the impression that you're walking into some place really nice. Our room was in the back building past the pool, which was more set up like a motel. This must be where all the cheap rooms are. We had one of the rooms with an adjoining door to the next room (shut and locked of course if you have checked out both rooms.) Anyway, this door does absolutely nothing to block the sound from next door. We could hear every sound the neighbors made. The door was located in the entryway across from the bathroom door, so we could hear the neighbors whenever they went into the bathroom. It actually sounded like they were in our room. Yes it was cheap, but nothing impressive here at all.
“Not Impressed”
This is a clean hotel, safe area but nothing to right home about.
