Wedding Weekend Away

Posted 11-Nov-2014
Pros: Gardens are well maintained. Good price. We booked 8 months in advance.
Cons: Staff assistance, wifi, room cleanliness, guest amenities, gift shop, meal choice, fill the mini bar
Location: In wedding central. Game parks and hotels around. Historic Area of muldersdrift
We arrived early and disappointingly couldn't check in before the stipulated time. There was no place to leave luggage so we left it in the car and went to get some drinks and food. The Hotel is cashless(we didn't know this) so have to pay with some sort of card so be prepared. If we had of checked in we could have signed to th room that I had already paid for but since no key no room signing. While waiting I asked form the wifi access but it didn't work anywhere in the hotel. Eventually we got keys and went to the room. No one carried our bags and we had to walk up hill lugging everything ourselves. Then ook itself smelt like the previous guest had been ill and it had been wiped up with a dirty cloth. We tried to air the room but it didn't work and we only had 1 hour to get ready for the wedding we were attending so left it. The taps in the basin and shower were terrible, too close to the wall so you couldnt put your hands under them to wash. Had to fill a basin to wash hands. In the middle of summer the room was hot and there was no fan or aircon either. Fortunately we were only in the room for 4 hours after the wedding and then had to check out to return early the next morning. A longer stay would have been terrible. Did I mention the empty mini bar?

Very unique hotel set in a wonderful botanical garden! Was raining so a bit tricky getting from car to room to dining areas! But a great stay.

A pleasant stay

Posted 08-Dec-2013
Pros: Rural location near Cradle of Humankind, great friendly staff, Carnivore restaurant and the great breakfast buffet.
Location: See above
Lovely grounds though some maintenance projects were ongoing on some buildings. The staff were extremely helpful, particularly Nomsa and Christene, and a pleasure to deal with.

good price quality ration and short distance to lanseria airport

Posted 03-Nov-2013 on Hotels.com
Pros: Rooms were comfortable, the breakfast was adequate. The price quality ratio was good and its location was very good in order to stop over night before flying out of lanseria, otherwise be aware that there is nothing around. We had a late dinner in the summerhouse and it exceeded our expectations by far, and we very much enjoyed our raviolis and chicken cuscus . Cons: Since it is a conference hotel, it is oversized and gets too large and uncomfortable to get around. The worst part was the long wait when checking in after a long drive from kruger. Reception staff were overwhelmed with phone calls. I would recommend management to encourage staff not to prioritize incoming phone calls over clients in person. After waiting over 20 min to be attended by the reception desk staff, We had to watch how during our check in process that should have taken 3 minutes, 4 calls were answered, leaving us on hold. This was extremely rude and hasn't happened to me anywhere else. if you think those phone calls can't wait, then maybe you should set up a call center.

My best hotel ever ever

Posted 31-Aug-2013
Pros: Everything but especially the environment, the garden and the decoration
Location: Lions park
The best hotel we have ever been in. We called it hotel california wbecause it was like being in a dream with this incredible garden, the foutains, the statues of wild animals, the incredible decoration, the fabulous restaurant (the carnivore) ... All this for the price of a standard hotel ... Remind that it is the Misty Hills near the Lions park. There are 3 Misty Hills in Johannesbourg and I do not know the other ones.
