The 665 guest bedrooms are comprised of 240 double rooms, 258 twin rooms, 67 luxury queen rooms, 80 luxury king rooms, 10 luxury suites, 2 honeymoon suites and 8 rooms for the disabled. A full English and Continental buffet breakfast is served daily in the Birchwood breakfast room "Cloversgreen". For lunch and dinner guests can visit one of the two a la carte restaurants on the property. Tazza Caffe & Wine bar offers a variety of light meals and the Local Grill is an upmarket stakehouse.

“Rude staff, cold room and not great value for money”
The shuttle driver left the airport ten minutes early and left me behind. When I rang the hotel, I was told I had to wait an hour in the public transport depot of Johannesburg airport (not the safest place in the world) for another shuttle. After admiting that the error was on the part of the driver, the hotel agreed to send a car to pick me up. When I arrived at th hotel I was surprised, and annoyed, to be accosted by the shuttle bus driver in reception who told me I was in the wrong. I offered to show him my phone records and to ask the hotel for their phone records to showing the timings of the telephone calls I had made but he still maintained I had got it wrong. The shuttle service is apprently outsourced to a third party and so none of the hotel staff intervened. Dreadful customer service - I'll never return. Room was also very cold but to be fair , Johannesburg was expereiencing abnormally cold and weather at the time. Show door didn't open fully as the toilet had been installed too close to it. The complex is so big you have to travel around on golf buggies which you have to order to pick you up from reception. When I was departing I nearly missed the airport shuttle service as I had to wait over 20 minutes to be picked up the golf buggy man. Have stayed at the Airport Grand Hotel since and the experience was much better.
“Good deal”
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room itself was clean, with a very nice bathroom. The only issue we had was the shuttle, which only comes to the airport on the hour unlike those of other hotels which seemed to show up every 10 or 15 minutes. The shuttle bus also broke down twice on the way to the hotel, just a fluke I'm sure. But otherwise a great place to stay. We had dinner at one of the restaurants in the compound, great wines and lamb shank! I wish we could have stayed longer so we could take a tour of Jo'burg and really experience the area.
“Convenient, Convenient and Okay”
Hotel is a large conference centre with a range of meal options. Found the "al la carte' restaurant options superior to the buffet. Service from staff was attentive and welcoming. The rooms were good, although showers were a little old. They provided excellent space. A large walk in security safe for the storage of luggage and valuables was excllent. Security is good. The grounds and surrounding areas are kept immaculate and are enjoyable to wander in. Found the staff to go out of their way to be helpful. It is in a very convenient locations. john
“Good for overnights near Jo'berg airport”
Near flight path, bring ear plugs. More of a conference center for large groups. Large breakfast buffet. 15 minutes to airport. Free shuttle. High security.
“Clean, very clean.”
A nice place to get away to and relax, more like a home away from home, only limitation is the distance from room to place of eating, subject to where your room is located. Generally a nice place.

Not only is this hotel beautiful and clean everyone goes out of their way to be of service. You feel like you are welcome into your best friends home and the complimentary breakfast is a wonderful experience.

definitely would not recommend staying at the birchwood. - the complimentary shuttle service to/from the airport is only until 12am. my flight landed at 11:50pm so i couldn't make the shuttle. arranging a shuttle through the hotel after hours costs at least 150 Rand and they don't even pick you up at the terminal. also, they said i had to call them once i got to the airport before they would send the shuttle. i didn't have a cell phone on me. since i had to pay anyway, i ended up using a car service that met me at the terminal and i was able to confirm it via email the day before so i didn't have to worry about finding a payphone at the airport. - the room was filthy. dead spider and small bugs (?bed bugs) under the comforter. - barely any water pressure in the bathroom sink/shower. only cold water in the sink. - very noisey (cars with loud music) in the middle of the night (2-4am). - there are other hotels for comparable prices with complimentary shuttles/vans around the clock and that are nicer. - it's not as close to the airport as i thought. especially since there are other nicer hotels closer to the airport. the pros: they allowed me to check out late (3pm) because i had a later flight. the breakfast was decent.

Pour un hotel d'aéroport, la fréquence d'une par heure, est insuffisante. l'accueil, est mitigée.
“Grande usine de l'industrie hôtelière, mais étonnement, très propre et efficace”
Enorme hôtel, sans paraitre, car les centaines des chambres sont dissimulés dans des petites maisonnettes individuelles de type cottage anglais. Situé exactement en but de piste de l'aéroport de Johannesburg, par conséquence un peu brouillant quand à l'extérieur, les chambres sont très spacieuses, pourvues de mini-cuisines et très propres. L'environnement immédiat n'est pas de nature à enthousiasmer; l'hôtel assure une navette gratuite avec l'aéroport et le shopping centre le plus proche. Petit déjeuner très correct. Idéal pour un lieu de passage (changement d'avion, etc), mais pas pour séjourner.
“guter Shattelservice zum Flughafen”
sehr große Hotelanlage mit gutem Sevice. Spa Bereich günstig und empfehlenswert. Reichhaliges Frühstücksbuffet.
