“Quiet and Clean”
Great location near shops and restaurants Could walk to Old City Loved our experience
“Great location, wonderful manager”
Stayed 4 nights. Unfortunately, we made a mistake allowing ourselves to be upgraded to a suite on the top floor. The noisy air-con. system kept us awake, but next day we were moved to a room lower down the hotel which was absolutely perfect. Comfortable and quiet. Slept well the remaining 3 nights. The manager was most apologetic about our bad experience, and gave us some little presents to make up for it. So nice of him! The hotel is in a pedestrian-only walkway, and at night there is nothing going on there, so no noise coming from outside, even though the hotel is centrally-located in the City. Perfect combination. Would definitely stay there again.
“Excellent Location, Good price or Jerusalem”
travelled to Jerusalem for a 4 days for a family wedding, we wanted to stay somewhere low cost and central. For the price we paid the hotel was perfect, comfortable and with free wifi. Breakfast wasn't amazing not much choice especially by Israeli standards, but adequate. The rooms where cleaned daily with clean sheets and towels, but overall decor was a bit tired and dated. The bathroom is small, with two people in it its a squeeze. Grouting on walls grotty but clean. Air con works well! We would stay here again. This hotel is an ideal base for sightseeing, but you wouldn't want to lounge around in it!
“Decent hotel, but needs upgrades”
We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Montefiore thanks in part to the kind hotel staff. The location is quite good. It is an easy walk to pedestrian shopping (Ben Yehuda, Mamilla, etc) and to the Old City. We even trekked over to the Israel Museum. There's a convenience store right across the street (bottled water) and a number of good restaurants within walking distance (try Forcaccia and the restaurant within the Artists House right around the corner!). Unfortunately, for the money, the hotel could certainly use a facelift. Rooms are adequate, not the cleanest and certainly not the most luxurious. Breakfast was fine, although my boyfriend was less pleased with the selections. For hotel coffee, we were surprised with the quality, although this pleasure was reiterated throughout our stay in Israel. Apparently, Israelis have a taste for good coffee! For a budget choice in a safe, clean neighborhood, the Montefiore is a good choice- just don't expect much grandeur.
“excellent location”
Quite good value but main issue was no plug in bathroom basin or bath. No way of turning bath water on other than by using handshower. When I requested a plug I was sent one which did not fit, so bath remained unuseable. This seems a silly thing to fall down on as hotel location very good for old part of Jerusalem, quite quiet given situation and staff helpful.
“All you need and best front desk ever, very helpful. Fantastic resturant 4 star at least”
The hotel was all that one needs while traveling, clean, respectful, quite, near transportation. The front desk people were extremly helpful, knowledegable, and respectful. The resturant attached had excellent top rate meals at reasonable rates and the free breakfast was very good. Walk a block catch a bus and 10 minutes and 6 schekels later you are in the "Old City". Or, take a walk and 3 blocks later you are shopping on "Ben Yehudah" St. and listening to the street musicians. Don't forget to buy your souvenirs at "Danny Boys" The cheapest place we found in all of Jerusalem. And be sure to save some room after dinner to try some "gelata" (Ice Cream) if you have never tried this type of ice cream you have not lived.
“Lively neighborhood”
Boutique hotel with nice breakfast. Excellent value for the money. Neighborhood filled with restaurant options. Unfortunately, on official travel, could not enter a public bus; luckily, hotel is 20 minutes' walk from the Old City and 20 minutes' walk from the Israel Museum and Yad Vashem, so if you needed to rely on foot power and taxis, it is a good location. The street directly in front of the hotel has a lively craft fair every Friday, so it is not the quietest place on Fridays.
“Location Location Location”
excellent location...near Ben Yehuda Street....great restaurant...Sunday Bezalal art fair in front of hotel and the room was fine for an older hotel.
“good choice”
the hotel was in a great location. some pple at the kitchen weren't polite at all, other then that pple at the front desk were nice. if you don't care who prepares your food, you will like the hotel
“Perfect for the price”
Great location, nice staff, simple clean room that had everything we needed. Shatz street is a lovely pedestrian only boulevard with cafes and boutiques, and it's walking distance from most sites. I would definitely stay there again.
