“My #1 Choice Hotel in Israel”
This was the second stay in Jerusalem Gate. I love staying there. It is safe, clean, staff is top notch; well-trained, higly professionaland ver friendly. From the Door Man Greeter, to the Receptionists, to Cafee/room service, and they have the best staff of housekeeping. Touring The Holy Land all day, it meant so much to us to come back to a sparkling clean room, all of our valuables are safe in the room, in addition to the plenty of supply so we didn't't have to call for extra twoels or shampoo, etc. Variety of delecious food for breakfast. Wait staff always on their toes to help and accomedate geusts. The most pleasant stay in any hotel worldwide is theJerusalem Gate Hotel. I traveled to so many countries, stayed in so many five-star hotels and less, but none like Jerusalem Gate. It is the BEST. The wondeful atmosphere, the cleanliness of the hotel and the family-like staff made it our favorite hotel period.
“Decent hotel in Israel”
The lobby is beautiful, and I found the personnel very friendly and helpful. The room was small but clean, and had a TV (BBC news the only English channel!). There is a coffee maker and packets of coffee and tea in the room. There are 3 elevators which sounds good, but as others had warned there are MANY tour groups that use the hotel -- when they check in/check out, the elevators which are tiny are often unavailable. The breakfast was decent, although not to my American tastes -- no danish or muffins, the toaster was very slow, no pancakes or waffles or those kind of items: mostly tomatoes, beets, green peppers, goat cheese, and other items I'd consider lunch instead of breakfast. Internet service is available in your room at a charge, but one floor down the internet is free at several cafes. Laundry service is available but the prices are ridiculously high; clearly meant for business travelers. To summarize, it was a reasonable hotel but I would not give it over 3 stars in my rating.
“A Nightmare”
Let’s make it simple, it is a dump
“We would definately stay there again!”
We stayed at this hotel for 6 days and were very pleased with our experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They bent over backwards to help us with our tour arrangements and anything else that we needed. The room was clean & comfortable. We had the included breakfast and dinner and were very pleased with the quality and variety of the meals they provided. The location was also convenient.
“A mixed bag.”
The people were very friendly. Dan was most helpful at all times. There were mixups with the wrong kind of room, expected amenities not being available, etc. The room did not look like the pictures. The location is fantastic! Overall, it's worth the price paid.
“Hotel is comfortable and with access to shopping and food close by.”
I would recommended it for pricing and rooms are pretty comfortable and spacious relatively speaking. Breakfast is very good and a huge variety of stuff to choose form. The overall maintenance of the Hotel is pretty bad and the air conditioning ducts are in pretty poor shape, will have breathing issues if you are susceptible. The staff is not too customer oriented and would rather avoid the guests apparently.
“Good value, next to central bus station”
For Israel, the price was very reasonable. They served a very good Israeli breakfast, included in the price.
“Convenient and reasonable cost”
Hotel is handy for the bus station. It is friendly and comfortable and very suitable for families with children and those wishing for a kosher hotel at a good price. Staff work hard to keep it pleasant and clean.
“Great, no-frills hotel that's clean & comfortable.”
The hotel is clean and comfortable and a bargain for the price that I paid. The staff seemed very pleased (and able) to accommodate any request that I made. The only disappointing aspect was that I was led to believe that there was "wifi" in every room. There is internet access available but you must buy time at the front desk ($6 for 30 min) and use the business station which only has one computer. I would happily stay there again as I am a school teacher and don't care about the frills. I'm looking for a clean, comfortable room at a good price. It's location next to the bus station make it easy to travel to/from the hotel to any place you like.
“Run down inexpensive option”
Although the Jerusalem Gate is an economical choice, I would not recommend the hotel for an extended stay. The rooms are shabby and I would not walk barefoot or sit on the bedspreads. Breakfast was fair, as Israeli buffets go, and front desk/concierge assistance was non-existent.
