“I read all of the other reviews and I have to disagree w/ the sour complaints..”
Loved the staff- helpful, kind and knowledgable. Breakfast was pleasant and having it on the balcony overlooking the beautiful neighbor hotels was beautiful. 5 minutes walk to Damascus Gate. Room has a separate bedroom w/ king bed, living room and kitchen.. plus flat screen TV in each. The bathroom has also a bidet and a whirlpool bathtub. Enjoyed them A LOT! Thank you Addar!
“Overall good value”
Stayed at Addar for 3 nights with family visiting Jerusalem. We had 2 rooms (Superior Suites) one with King and one with 2 beds. Both suites were very spacious with a bedroom and a separate sitting room with door between them. The sitting room had a sofa bed. Some rooms had a kitchenette, our rooms didn't (only a small fridge which had drinks for sale). The staff were very good and helpful and took their time to arrange for transportation for is, reserve restaurants, etc.. The location is in east Jerusalem (Palestinian side) about 10 minutes from the old city (Damascus gate) which is about 15 minutes from Dom of the Rock. We walked that distance several times (with my 5 year old daughter). One of our 2 rooms had a problem with the AC not working which was really a problem (although the weather is mild outside, it is still hot inside and AC is definitely needed). The front disk staff tried to get someone to fix it the next day to no avail (I think the problem was a big one and couldn't be handled quickly). If it wasn't for the AC problem I would stay it was a great stay. It is still a very good value and I recommend it (just check your AC and other things in the room at check in).
“Water dripping on bed...and not a lot of help provided”
I arrived only to find water coming out of the ceiling onto my bed. When I asked for a new room, I was told the place was full, and so the maintenance guy just came and put some sheets on the sofa bed and went on his way. I later went back to the front desk to at least request a new room for the following night...and "suddenly" they had a new room available at this same hotel that was "full" 5 minutes ago. I really don't like being lied to, and it was clear that this is exactly what happened here! The staff was rude, unaccommodating, and generally unhelpful. The location was great, but there are plenty of other options close by that make this hotel a "no-go" for the future.
“A 2-star at best”
A concur 100% with "Disappointed" from New York (18 Feb 2011) The 3.5 stars is definitely a mis-representation, especially compared to the Grand Court across the street, also rated 3.5 stars (their pool looks AMAZING!) . Tired furniture, blocked stairwell, unfinished look, mediocre breakfast (see photos on tripadvisor). Street parking only. Not located at the stated address but at 53 Nablus road which is on the other side of the block, across from the American Colony Hotel. We had a two-night pre-paid stay and checked out after one night even though it meant forfeiting the second night. The registration clerk was very appollogetic, asked how he could make our stay better, offered a different room, etc.... but short of refurbishing the hotel, there was really nothing he could have done: call me a snob, but I don't stay at a 2-star hotel. They absolutely refused to refund the second night at the time I checked out then again after calling Expedia upon my return. Location is great: 10 mins walk to Damascus Gate and on the new trolley line (not yet in operation at time of writing). Free WiFi that worked well. If you expect a 2 star hotel, this is a great pick.
“Totally disappointing with internet service!”
Internet service was totally disappointing on all accounts. Cannot even have access to their own network in the rooms. WIFI was available 80% in the lobby. Comforter on our queen sized bed was for a full bed!!!! Breakfast was mediocre and manned by only one person - chef and all... He was helpful and acdcommodating but overworked - hotel needs more staff.when hotel is at its full capacitgy,.Would probably recommend it if internet service was better!!!!
“Bait and Switch”
I had a great price. They had peopole willing to pay more. They sent me to a bad hotel half mile further from Old City. Bunch of bait and switch bandits! Stay away!!
“Great Hotel”
Great Hotel
“It was adequate, nice.”
We were given a suite on the second floor with nice balcony views. It was a conveniet location for tourism with bus tours available. It was a short walk to Old Jerusalem near the Damascus gate. The breakfast buffet was okay.
“Disappointed”
I was hesitant to stay here because I generally stick to hotels which are at least 4-star rated on Expedia but I was persuaded after reading the numerous favorable Expedia reviews. I will be much more careful about relying on Expedia reviews going forward because this hotel should not be rated 3 stars, let alone 3 1/2. My most serious complaints were lack of solid water pressure in the shower and sink, soap and toiletries which were reused from the prior guest, and a disappointing breakfast. If you typically stay at Expedia 3-star rated hotels you may find this place a good value for the money, but if you typically stay at 4-star rated hotels my recommendation is to avoid this place and stay at one of the three modern hotels right across the street.
“Good deal, good location, would return”
We got a 50% off deal on-line to stay for 3 nights which was perfect. The room was huge with a separate kitchenette, dining table and lounge as well as a bedroom. The location was also very convenient for exploring the Old City and within an easy walk of restaurants etc... The decor is a little dated, but it's still very tidy and clean and well maintained. Would definitely recommend and go back.
