“We could not ask for anything better”

There are five of us who take a short break somewhere in europe every year and can say that our stay in the three wonderful rooms at the Hampshire goes to the top of the list. The staff where so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. We all wish to say a big thank you to everyone who made our stay so great.

“Would love to return to the Hampshire soon in Autumn”

The booking went very well and all was explained by email. The transfer to the hotel was brilliant and well co-ordinated. The hotel, though a 3 * only was very clean with its warm water swimming pool. The hotel is well located within the 10 minute walk into St Helier City Centre. We enjoyed a quiet bright and spacious room, quality breakfast and friendly professional staff.

“Great Staff”

The hotel is good, and is about 15 mins walk from the centre of town. The most memorable experience was the staff, every single member of staff we encountered, was without exception extremely polite & pleasant. It is the first hotel I have stayed in, where every member of staff seemed to be genuinely interested in what you had been doing that day, and that all was to your satisfaction and you were enjoying your stay.

“Directionless Shower, but well worth a visit”

The hotel had been modernised in the last few years and IS quality for money. The staff are always friendly and able to offer appropriate advice regarding local travel and sites of interest. We were offered an up-grade on our arrival from a standard room to a larger family room. I would consider returning again, however, the following points need to be reviewed: - although 'wireless' you can only connect to the system while sitting in the foyer' - the south facing rooms get very warm if you stay during the summer, especially during those rare sunny weeks! - towels are collected and washed every day even though they claim to have an environmentally friendly policy; - the bathroom was basic and one was not able to direct the shower-head unless held in the hand. Nonetheless, breakfast was good, although the prunes can be acidic, while a full-English is extra; the swimming pool is small but clean. In fact we enjoyed our stay regardless of the prunes!

Area recommendations
We explored the following area, and they were wonderful: St Helier, Bay of Grouville and Goey Point, St Brelades Bay, Bonne Nuit Bay, Devils Hole, the northern coast path, Plemont Bay and St Ouen's Bay

Spent two nights at hotel. Good location and very pleasant. Much better value than other hotels where I've recently stayed in St Helier.

“A great stop”

The week we spent as a family in the Hampshire Legacy was fantastic. The room was really comfy and spacious. The one downside was the shower pressure which meant baths were the best way. Hotel facilities were great, my son and I were in the pool every morning. Staff were excellent - always willing to help or just chat. Front of house staff were always good for recommendations for places to go/to eat etc. Food in the restaurant was excellent and good value too. We will certainly return to this hotel when we revisit Jersey.

Area recommendations
The whole island is fantastic to explore. Car hire is essential and very reasonable. Our top find was a beautiful bay - Plemont Bay. Utterly gorgeous - but with around 200 steps down the cliff to reach it!

“Would definitely go back”

All facilities you could need including a swimming pool, bar & restaurant onsite with extremely comfortable rooms and friendly, helpful staff. Slightly out from the centre but not a problem for anyone who can walk.

“" Very good value for money"”

The hotel is located a 15 minute casual walk from the town centre and bus station. There is a good size car park with no charge. It is also on a bus route and located in a residential area with mixed housing, but the walk to the town is safe The hotel reception is bright, airy and well furnished. Reception staff were courteous and very responsive to any requests made. The bar area is well furnished and spacious. We arrived mid May and on most evenings the bar was very quiet with low volume music from the speakers. The selection of six starters, main and dessert in the hotel restaurant provided a varied choice with the chef providing a special for each course each evening. Two course £15, three courses £18 The menu is changed each 2 weeks. It is anticipated that guests may sometimes wish to eat in the town. The food was always presented in a very professional way, and cooked to a very good standard. The restaurant staff attended to tables promptly and left sufficient time between courses. Our room, No1, was located next to reception. Late arrivals and early leavers did cause a disturbance when pulling their suitcases over the tiled floor. This was drawn to the attention of the manager who accepted it as a valid remark. I would therefore suggest asking for a room not near reception and overlooking the hotel car park. Bookings can be made for excursions from reception and there is a comprehensive display of brochures and magazines giving information about activities in Jersey.

Area recommendations
Some commentators suggest the hotel is located in a not very pleasant area to walk. It depends what you are use to. We live in a working class town and did not feel intimidated, though we were only out until 9:30 pm on two evenings. We saw no drunkeness nor heard any swearing or anything elase that would cause us concern. By comparison to other hotels in the town we were informed this was one of the quietest locations and would not hesitate to use this hotel again for all the reaosn previously mentioned.
When to go
10th to 20th 2010 was a relatively quiet period. More holiday makers arrived towards the end and the buses started to get crowded, though we always got on. There were no long queues for the places we wished to visit. The spring flowers were well in bloom on the cliff walks and the weather was comfortable.
Getting around
If staying for over a week then the local bus service is excellent. Well defined maps, coloured routes and timetable make for easy reading. It can be cheap as the island is divided into route lengths wich are either £1.10 or £1.60. For example you can stay on the bus on some routes for a whole round tour of 75 minutes for £1.60. If getting on and off regularly throughtout a route then you have to pay again each time. We would recommend if staying for a few to fives dyas that you rent a car to enable you to visit more of the island in a shorter space of time.
What to pack
Strictly within the airlines baggage allowance otherwise it gets very expensive, and book the baggage before you get to the airport otherwise it can cost you more. We travelled Flybe Gatwick to St Helier. Take clothing you can wear in layers if going out clifftop walking, and a light waterproof. Smart casual for dining in most restaurants
Must see
Jersey War Tunnels. Corbiere Lighthouse at low tide. Gorey village, bay and castle. Cliff top walks on the north side of the island. The bus company Explorer maps for these walks are very good and free. Durrell Zoo.
Dining
'Atlantique' in the fish market if you love seafood.
Outdoors or beach
If a beach lover then St Brelade's Bay

“Fantastic Hotel with no faults at all!!!!”

The Hampshire Legacy Hotel is extremely clean and rooms are cream and beige. All staff extremely friendly, food amazing!!! Rooms cleaned everyday and basically for all this is only 3* it is better than some of the 4* hotels we have stayed in. NOTHING AT ALL TO FAULT! Jersey is so clean too no rubbish or graffitti around, however food is more expensive here than at home, but definitely worth a visit.
