I booked this hotel cold as I didn't know the island or St Helier and wanted to plump for something with a pool in case the weather was awful (not necessary as it turned out!). It is 5 star and though not cheap, not immensely more than other hotels in the town or in the Lake District when I compared with my husband who had been up there for the weekend. The level of customer service, friendly, helpful but never obtrusive was terrific.
Sitting in the Champagne Lounge overlooking the bay and the Elizabeth Castle, with a champagne cockttail, made my daughter and I feel positively famous.
We didn't eat dinner in the hotel, preferring to explore the town a bit, but the breakfasts were to die for. Altogether just the job after a difficult few weeks.
I went to Jersey for a short break and looked for a hotel conveniently located near all amenities. I found it. Near the shopping, pubs, harbour and bus station (2 minutes walk). I doubt there is anywhere better for my needs.
stayed there 2 days on week end break, a touch of luxury as you enter this old building, very pleasant staff, stayed in a standard double which very nice and clean . Breakfast was excellent. Easy walk to main area and front where bus park is, Buses very cheap to use only £1.80 each from airport. The Hotel has a sister hotel a short walk away which has swimming pools although we didn't use. Our hotel was mainly couples and business people which suited us. A good bar joined to hotel which serves food all day as well as the hotels own restaurant, food very good in both.
One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Location overlooking the harbour was great with glorious views and in our case wonderful sunrises and sunsets - the weather could not have been better.
The staff were the best and seemed to really enjoy their work which in turn rubbed off on the guests creating a very happy atmosphere all round - even when really busy with functions they still had time for the residents. Nothing was too much trouble.
When late functions were taking place there was no disturbance when in our room. Car parking was never a problem however busy the hotel was.
We had a very pleasant 4-night stay in room 2, which is immediately adjoining reception, so very convenient. The room itself was a little dark, looking on to a small courtyard, and the bathroom was rather cramped (to say the least). Other than that, the room was comfortable and well maintained. However, it might be worth paying the extra for a superior or premium room. The hotel overall is lovely and the staff are friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant is of a very high standard. Breakfast is buffet style and there is a reasonable selection. There is a large, comfortable bar and an outdoor pool which looks as though it would be a big attraction in summer. For those without their own transport it is a bit of a walk into town but not too bad (say, 15 to 20 minutes). There is a bus stop literally outside the door, but the bus runs only about every 2 hours! However, if you time it right this can be very handy. Overall we would have no hesitation in returning to the Hampshire.
Hotel located in the centre of St Helier close to all the amenities. Ideal if you want to tour the island by bus as the bus station is immediately below. Spoilt only by the nightclub opposite but if you avoid Friday's & Saturday's or opt for the habour view this can be minimised,
The staff are available 24/7 and made us very welcome. Highly recommended.
